    Good food and atmosphere, but disappointing service and unnecessary restrictions We recently celebrated a special occasion at The Kraal Restaurant at Thaba Eco Hotel. While the food was good and the venue itself has a lovely atmosphere, unfortunately our overall experience was overshadowed by the attitude of some of the staff, whom we found to be quite rude, unfriendly and unwelcoming. One of the biggest disappointments was the issue around photography. We had arranged for a photographer to capture our celebration, only to be told at the venue that we were not permitted to take photographs inside, apparently due to the POPI Act. I found this extremely frustrating, particularly because there was no disclaimer or clear communication about such a restriction on the website or during the booking process. As a result, we had to take our photographs outside and eventually had to let our photographer leave earlier than planned. For an occasion that was important to us and that we had specifically wanted professionally documented, this really put a damper on the celebration. I completely understand that establishments may have policies regarding photography and the privacy of other guests. However, if professional photography is restricted, this should be communicated clearly before guests make their booking, particularly when people are booking the restaurant for celebrations and special occasions. Had we known beforehand, we could have planned accordingly or chosen a different venue. The food and setting were enjoyable, but hospitality is about more than good food. How guests are spoken to and made to feel is equally important. Unfortunately, based on the unfriendly service and the way the photography issue was handled, I would personally recommend considering other venues for special celebrations.

    I had made a booking for a private setting outside and I was going to do the decor But when I arrived the table for 2 setting was not set up there was 2 tables and 4 chairs we had to move things ourselves No one assisted us once we got to reception we told them we had a reservation and was directed to where we needed to go on our own. While trying to figure out why we were going to do we saw one of the waiters from afar and called them and asked them if they could help For the fact that no one was there to guide us and assist us upon arrival. Once we asked for help the manager was sent and was helped but that took time as well
