Maximillien Restaurant launches New Menu
The décor is reminiscent of the old school Balthazar restaurant in New York, and the dark wood panelling, mirrors and red upholstery, as well as the black and white checked floors and intricately pressed ceilings would find you thinking that you had indeed headed back in time to the 1920’s.
What can only be described as one of Sandton’s most well-known restaurants, the Maximillien is a stalwart of fine dining at its best. Floor to ceiling windows allow in soft natural light during the day and create a picturesque view for evening dining. Romantic candle light dinners setting the mood.

    Restaurant is closed for refreshment but I was not advise on the message received, neither when I was called to reconfirm booking.We were booked by the cigar lounge (special smell for a dinner when you don't smoke), and a totally different menu is offered (wrap, pizzas...). So nothing to compared with the restaurant menu. When I asked the manager why we were not advised and if the restaurant menu could be offered, it seems complicated to get proper explanation so we left !

    The waiters were a bit slow in taking and delivering our orders, hence my rating on the staff attentiveness.

    The jalapeño fillet and seafood linguini were very well flavoured and good portions. The restaurant decor is a bit outdated but we loved the ambiance. Our waitress Simphiwe was an absolute star. We will be returning.

    Unfortunately there’s no option for a zero rating. This was the most disappointing experience we have had to date. The service was terrible, the food was average. The ambiance was non existent- the place needs an upgrade. The bathrooms were disgusting and the staff was non attentive with the worst attitude! The tables was piling with dirty plates and stuff.The most pleasant part of this was the chef coming out to check if everything was okay and the cute pianist. There’s definitely better ways to spend your Saturday afternoon. Don’t do it! It’s a waste of money, time and energy!
