The Wild Fig Restaurant is a fully licensed Restaurant and Bar situated on a portion of the historic Valkenburg Estate. Our bar is situated in the original barn which is a National Monument. We have beautiful outdoor seating areas as well as private dining areas. We cater for all manner of events such as functions, conference, weddings, cocktail functions, breakfasts and celebrations.

    The waiter was very witty, attention to detail and had a charm about her. The food and dessert was beautifully plated and the taste was nothing short from absolutely delicious. The crème brûlée was PERFECT. Serene setting with beautiful trees and plants.

    The weather was WILD but we were welcomed with warm coffee and a roaring log fire. The staff were friendly and attentive, and everyone enjoyed their Sunday breakfasts. All in all, it was a happy 80th birthday brunch.

    Good waitress attentive but not intrusive. Food better than it has been. Ambience was good with the fire on a rainy grey day.

    My family enjoyed the meal very much! They were happy with the high quality of the meal and the ambience of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

    Sadly the chicken breast served with mushroom ragout was a major dismissal. Poor presentation More chicken strips and chicken with a blob of mushroom ragout over the chicken strips in the middle made for a most unappealing and unappetising dish. I immediately sent it back. It look like a meal for a child. At R185 a plate I was beyond disappointed and left without eating. We won’t be going back.

I am just sorry you never tried it as the flavours are really amazing. But I also know that we all eat with our eyes and that this was a let down.
