The Wild Fig Restaurant is a fully licensed Restaurant and Bar situated on a portion of the historic Valkenburg Estate. Our bar is situated in the original barn which is a National Monument. We have beautiful outdoor seating areas as well as private dining areas. We cater for all manner of events such as functions, conference, weddings, cocktail functions, breakfasts and celebrations.

    I had the fish cakes which were as delicious as they looked. And a satisfying portion. My friend had a burger - her usual choice, and the chips were tops. For dessert she had the malva pudding, which was served with an interesting (tasty) custard with a light citrus flavour. Yum. My creme brule was, I felt, mediocre. Or possibly I have outgrown what was once my favourite dessert. The service provided by Jules and Eric (?) and others, was friendly but not invasive. It is always good to have engaging people, who understand your sense of humour, attending you. Monday night was, once again, a most enjoyable and delicious evening. Thank you. (Don't be put off by the 4 stars, as 100% is difficult to obtain. Being in Education, I know!)

    We thoroughly enjoyed our meal (I had the kudu & my wife had calamari & marrow starters), which was cooked to order and perfection. Our waiter was Eric who was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu & there when we needed him. Altogether a 5 star dinner.

    The lamb shank and the peppermint crisp terrarium were fantastic! Really enjoyed the restuarant

    Sad to say the chicken and mushroom pie was tasteless and not a hint of chicken . Our friends said the butter chicken portion was too little! Won’t be rushing back. Used to be my favourite spot.
