The Wild Fig Restaurant is a fully licensed Restaurant and Bar situated on a portion of the historic Valkenburg Estate. Our bar is situated in the original barn which is a National Monument. We have beautiful outdoor seating areas as well as private dining areas. We cater for all manner of events such as functions, conference, weddings, cocktail functions, breakfasts and celebrations.

    We've recently had some great experiences at Wild Fig but last night was not one of them. At our last visit they were advertising their Christmas in July weekend and Friday was billed as a "Christmas eve Dinner", except that there was no dinner as advertised but they merely served their normal a la carte menu. Nice but hugely disappointing. Rather a let down when expecting a traditional Christmas meal. The only thing that was Christmasy was a lovely outdoor Christmas market and the waiters were kitted in festive hats. Food wise, while my companions enjoyed their meals, my starter was brilliant but the pork belly was dry and rather tough and not their usual standard. As the restaurant was packed to capacity, the noise level was so high that we could not hear each other across the table... Our friend told his partner, "I can see your lips moving but can't hear a thing." All round not what we expected from the "Christmas Eve Dinner experience." Rather disappointing.

    Our first time at The Wild Fig! What a pleasant surprise. Relaxed, country style vibe with great food and service. Would definately be back in Summer to experience the outdoor area. Thank you Grant & Jules! Well done!

    We visited for Sunday lunch and ordered the bunless burgers. Unfortunately our waiter put through the wrong order, which meant a longer wait for our food — though we understood, given how busy Sunday lunchtime can be, so that wasn't our main gripe. The real disappointment was the food itself. The bunless burgers felt like a regular burger with the patty simply taken out of the bun — nothing extra, just the standard garnish you'd get on any burger. We often order bunless (sometimes called gluten-free) burgers at other restaurants, where the patty is beautifully done and served with extra salad or garnish to make it a proper plate. Paying full burger price for what was essentially just a patty left us feeling shortchanged. Sadly, not an experience we're keen to repeat.

    Ordered snails in curried cream sauce was delicious however for mains I had the fish which wasn't that great.
