Your Hosts - Matteo Santini & Maurizio Carlo. These Two where born and raised in Italy. Matteo In the Beautiful Bolognia and Maurizio in Fiery Florence. They have both Traveled the world for the past 10 years and Finally decided to Settle in our beautiful Cape Town. Together have taken over THE WOODLANDS EATERY as of the 01 June 2017.

They strive to incorporate authentic Italian cuisine combined with the delicious existing local flavors. We welcome you into their home and hope that you enjoy and feel part of the famiglia

    Woodlands eatery never disappoints. Fantastic food made with quality ingredients. The atmosphere is warm, cozy and unpretentious.

    The Woodlands Eatery is that rare spot that feels like you’ve been invited over to a friend’s home for dinner, only to find out Nonna has been cooking all day just for you. It’s warm, intimate, and unpretentious, with a curated but lived in charm that makes you want to linger. We started with a bruschetta board that felt like a love letter from Italy, deep terracotta tapenade, vibrant basil pesto, and ruby tomato with mozzarella on perfectly crisp ciabatta. The pesto bruschetta stole my heart, garlicky, nutty, and bold. Then came the star, slow cooked lamb ragu tagliatelle, served on a dramatic black plate, its rich tomato sauce clinging to every ribbon of handmade pasta. The lamb was fall apart tender, melting on the tongue with zero resistance. This dish was rustic yet elevated, layered with flavours that spoke of patience and care, the kind of meal that feels like it belongs in a tucked away Italian village. We finished with a classic creme brulee that cracked beautifully under the spoon, its silky custard warmly flavoured with Amaretto, paired with a bright mango sorbet. It was light, tropical, and the perfect refreshing end to a deeply indulgent meal. The Woodlands Eatery delivers confident Italian cooking that feels personal rather than polished, intimate rather than pretentious. It’s a neighbourhood gem where every detail, from the friendly service to the generous pours of red wine, makes you feel at home. If you’re going to visit, do it right, order the lamb. You won’t regret it.

    Always a pleasure to visit Woodlands, it's very close to my home and perfect for a pasta or pizza . Great, attentive and friendly service.

    I have had many fantastic dinners here before, but last night’s experience was disappointing. My glass of Doolhof Pinotage had to be replaced as it was served from a bottle that ‘was opened the day before’ I was told. The roasted beetroot salad consisted of a few beetroot chips/crisps as opposed to veg ‘roasted’ in an oven, and a few salad leaves drenched in a sweet dressing. The manager was friendly and accommodating about the wine though. Next time I’ll rather opt for pizza, which looked great at the table next to us.

    Ciao Lizel, Thanks for the feedback. We sincerly apology for the disappointing experience, we are sorry last night's dinner wasn't up to the task. Our beetroot salad has 3 different types of beetroot: poached, roasted & chips, apologies if you felt the quantity of the "chips" was overpowering the other 2, we will look into it to improve. As you mentioned to our manager Abigail about the not-satisfaction on the wine taste, we always also encourage our lovely customers to bring to your attention if something is not of their liking with the food so we can rectify it immediately as well & make sure you'll be able to fully enjoy your experience. Thanks for understandin & we hope you'll give us another chance to make it right like in your previous visit, maybe with our thin base pizza!!! Ciao

    Attended Woodlands Food and Wine evening with Weltevrede Winery. What a wonderful evening. Food was once again amazing and pairing it with the wonderful wine of Weltevrede,made for an unforgettable evening. Woodlands and its staff are top class and always makes you feel at home. Really recommend.
