    I cannot begin to describe how unhappy my family and I were attending a Sunday dinner buffet at Coastlands Musgrave. The food was bland, very limited and really not worth the price. A lot of items were not serviced even though it was on the menu. When asked, the chef told us that the menu is a “Chefs choice” menu. So they choose what to make. Which I understand when “either and or” are stated. Eg. Chicken and mushroom pasta was on the menu sent to us the night before however no pasta of that sort was served. When enquired; the chef told us it was their choice to make a veg lasagna. However the menu also stated veg pasta, and when asked about where the veg pasta was, I was told it’s the lasagna. I understand a substitute dish. But completely excluding a dish does not make sense to me. Especially cause these dishes listed were not stated as “either/or” but as an option to be serviced. The chef did offer to make us a pasta, however that dish was sent back; as it was sooo salty and tasted absolutely awful. The very lovely supervisor did intervene and asked the kitchen to try again, however that too was an epic failure. I would not recommend this dish at ALL! And it should never be serviced to anyone. A lot of dishes that were mentioned were not serviced. Which to me is a huge disappointment considering the amount charged per person. Another example was the fact that the menu said “pastries” but only one pastry was served. The supervisor did ask the kitchen to send out samoosas but this too was soo salty and bland. And only our table got this. The rest of the guests were denied this option. Desserts were not being refilled. Two small squares of red velvet cake were placed on the dessert table, which makes me wonder the freshness of these tiny cakes. Was the supervisor trying to accommodate the terrible food, service and experience; yes she really did her best. But the quality of food and service from the kitchen is a 1/10. I would never recommend anyone to waste money!

    Flies were full up at the open desert station. We complained to the staff. We only attempted the sealed malva pudding. It was a special occasion, my mums birthday. We were a table if 5. In the same open resturant was a seperate table of 20 somewhat, being allowed to take over the resturant by means of public prayers, speeches and songs and dances. Totally not acceptable, i did bring this to the duty manager, who didnt really do much apart from saying he spoke to them. It really damaged the day, as it felt like we were apart of another function. Not a resturant, so unpleasant and unprofessional. Plus the food selection was not like we usually receive at coastlands. Very basic and flies all around. Not worth the value that was paid.

    The seafood paella was bland and the rice was hard. The muscle pot has lost the plot, it tasted way better the last time I was there. The roast potatoes looked good but was flavorless. The prawns and meat and the grill station was good. The crab curry was fair Lamb curry fair The desserts was horrendous, tasted very cheap. The jelly actually tasted nice but now who really pays R425 to enjoy jelly as a dessert. The malva and custard was average. We had a table of 5 so 5 x R425 =R2125 excluding drinks is quite a lot to spend so the food should at least be up to standards.

    I am happy to relate my experience at your venue in Musgrave. We had the worst experience relating to the payment.' It was very embarrassing. I was treated like a person that eats and will not pay I am an elderley and disabled person. We were celebrating my sons Brandons Birthday. He loves your venue especially for the crab curry, He was very disappointed with the size of the crabs. I gave them options to resolve the issue, but they refused. to refer the matter to someone senior so that I could speak to. I also own a business but will never treat the customer like the way i was treated by your staff. We do support your other venue in Umhlanga as well.. In a nutshell, when we got there we were told we had not paid. I told them payment was made late on Friday night and the proof of payment was sent to your email address. After eating I was told that the funds were not reflecting in your bank account I then pointed out to them that it was a cross bank transaction between Standard and Fnb. I asked someone to accompany me to the Bluff and collect the cash. As it was late I will drop off the cash in ther morning if the funds were not reflecting in your account. They insisted I make other plans and the bill must be settled now. Luckily my wife assisted as I left all my cards at home. I understand you have protocols. As I write, no one has contacted me if the payment was received and when will my refund be processed.     Excellent service, great venue, beautiful ambience. The food was divine with a huge variety. My Son’s event was made special by your friendly staff and managers. Thank you. Would definitely go there again.
