9th Avenue Waterside is a fine-dining restaurant located in the Durban yacht mole, off the city's picturesque Esplanade. Every feature of the establishment defines its character - from its location in the harbor, to the innovative design and menu and ultimately, to the exceptional dining experience. The intimate setting is complimented by the warmth of the inspired front-of-house team and the kitchen brigade, led by Head Chef, Theodorus Chiloane. Our mission is to inspire people to enjoy and appreciate food and dining, in a new way - from the communities we support producing sustainably farmed food and beverages, to the professionalism and knowledge of our staff, service and hospitality. The upstairs Cocktail Lounge provide the ideal space to de-stress after a busy day, meet with friends or business colleagues or host a private function. 9th Avenue Waterside also offers a variety of spaces for weddings, engagements, business events, product launches and special calendar days.     A very lovely venue and service is great, from the lovely receptionist who handled our booking and invited us to our table, to the waiter who was very knowledgeable and well versed with the menu.. The food portion was good and they made sure to not be shy with the freshness and wholesomeness of both meals. I wasn't happy with the up keep of the place Esthetically, walking in the venue I noticed how empty the tables where in regards to utensils - things such as wine glasses and cutlery should be placed on all tables for a dining setting... Theb upstairs toilets weren't in the best clean state.... The dining chairs upstairs could use a deep cleaning... Stains everywhere... The wine room could be less empty when it comes to the wine rack... Just the overall details of the venue could use some TLC. Otherwise what stood out was the food.

    Sandra and her wonderful team contributed to the success of our event. The food was amazing, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our clients had a fantastic time. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you again!

    Drinks and starters were above average. Meals Started off well. Main meals: linefish was horribly overstalted, a tiny portion and dressed with two raw radish, three small cubes of potato and mayonnaise dressing. No polenta or anything described on the menu. Charged full price. The two apparent angus sirloin steaks were cut into slices and cooked well done dried out completely, (similar to how you cut a steak up for steak roll). The lamb chops were underdone and horribly served with all the fat and sinew still attached. All three pasta meals were poorly seasoned no salt or pepper, each dish needed some serious help to season. Served bland and looked like it was rushed out.. I doubt the main chef was present when preparing the meals, Sat night at 20h10? We asked to speak to him/her but they did not respond. Paid Premium prices, drove into town for this restaurant and despite the complaints, no person addressed the issues we had with the meals. Would have accepted a sorry and we will do better next time… We were told to make a complaint on this platform. Still waiting for the owner to call. Paid the full bill for all the meals, gave a good tip (waiter was sweet) and left knowing we will not be coming back or recommending this place ever again.

    Excellent service from start to finish. Angus steak best meal I've ever had. Trio of duck (Very Salty)
