Agteros is a unique restaurant located in the picturesque village of Stanford, in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. It celebrates South African Heritage food with a modern twist, offering a memorable culinary experience that connects guests to local culture and flavors.

The name "Agteros" reflects the owner's personal journey of perseverance and eventual success, inspired by the Afrikaans proverb "Agteros kom ook in die kraal" (The last ox also gets to the kraal).

Location: Nestled at the end of the road in Stanford, emphasizing its significance as a hidden gem for travellers and locals.

Inside: Seats 40-50 guests with an inviting and intimate atmosphere. Outside: A charming terrace garden space.

    Agteros was exceptional as always. Every dish was superb and cooked to perfection, waitress was super friendly and attentive and a lovely cosy vibe inside. We all had a really amazing evening and Chef Janine's food will always be my absolute favourite.

    Driving away after our meal my husband asked me what my thoughts were re our meal. I said this, I couldn’t fault a thing, friendly staff, professional server, kind and generous to our pooch, my meal (Cape Salmon) was delicious, my dessert excellent (I love pannacotta), we spent a love afternoon catching up with our friends, in fact the chef came out and said she could hear us laughing from the kitchen! You would think this constitute 5 stars YET I (and my husband) were underwhelmed. What the reason is we can’t put our finger on. Could it be that the whole experience lacked ambiance? I loved the decor but we were the only diners in a huge restaurant. It is a great pity.
