Allium is a family name of bulbous plants including garlic, onion, spring onion, chive and leek. We relay on those plants a lot to serve something delicious.

What a amazing food experience! I love the new space, and the Allium in Summer cocktail was fantastic. I can eat their Bibimbap everyday!

It was a fabulous experience but NO Ice which we like in our wine. We had two teens, NO Softdrinks. To charge R75 each for a non alcoholic Watermelon and Lime & Tonic cocktail is unacceptable. Other restaurants do not charge full price when they omit the alcohol. Two small cooldrinks cost the same price as a bottle of wine. Because there is no physical bill, we were not able to query this at the time as the bill is E Mailed on request. It is an authentic Korean experience for which we thank you. The Spiced Pear Granita was out of this world. Please accept my comments above as constructive criticism. David & Colleen de Jongh.

Allium responded on Fri 19 Feb 21:
Hi David & Colleen Thank you for the constructive review. 1. We prefer not serving ice in the wine. That is why we keep the bottles at about 5 degree so guests can choose to drink wine very chilled or lightly chilled, but we will have some ice soon as our ice machine is just waiting for installation like some of other equipments. 2. Unfortunately we have no plan to have soft drinks on the menu in near future, but we will add fresh fruity tea soon. Every week we are adding more items. We tried charge less for non alcoholic gin & tonic, but it takes the same effort to make. We use all the fresh ingredients from the scratch. One shot of gin doesn't make big difference. If you find our non alcoholic cocktail is not satisfying or lacking of something, please let us know. I will get you refund. The last thing I want my dinner guests feel is "not worthy the money" 3. We really appreciate your inputs regarding not-printed bill system. The reason why we don't use printed bill is the thermal printing receipts are coated with BPA and BPS. We will find a way of letting guests have enough time to look into the bill. Until then, you are more than welcome to contact us by email anytime. Once again, with your constructive criticism, we will make the service better in March when we serve fully. Kind regards Sepial, chef/owner

Really enjoyed the food and the locale, but there were a couple of things that I thought needed to be resolved. I know that it has only been open for a week or two, so I do understand some teething problems, but definitely need to resolve them. Here are the pointers: We asked for Ice but were told there was no ice available - Perhaps the restaurant could have arranged ice by purchasing some bags before the evening service. We asked for another bottle of wine but were told there were no other chenins left. We were the first to arrive and there was only one other table. - Perhaps stock levels should have been resolved beforehand. We asked for dumpling starter and only 3 arrived but there were 4 of us.We requested another dumpling and he was able to assist us. Perhaps the waiter should have mentioned this beforehand and resolved or suggested alternate plan ahead of delivering the 3 dumplings to us. We asked for coffees after the meal and were told that there was not a coffee machine available...perhaps this should have been said before or alternatively perhaps the waiter should have suggested some teas for example. Or arranged some coffees from a neighbouring restaurant... Food was all tasty. Only thing to note was two of us had a piece of pork that was very chewy due to sinew and fat. Yhe remaining pieces were fine. Hope these comments can be used to resolve future problems and improve customer satisfaction?

What an amazing restaurant and dining experience. My fiancé and I appreciated the warm welcome and contained menu options which allowed for both sharing and experimentation — including the experimentation of some of the best KFC* (Korean Fried... Cauliflower). We tried everything on the menu with the guidance of an attentive, knowledgable and friendly matredé. We'll be back for the revised menu next month!

The really fantastic thing about the Allium experience is how quietly seamless the whole experience is. It's gentle, welcoming, and the perfect framing for some really great food. Every time I've eaten at Sepial's Kitchen and, now, Allium, I've learnt something new, not only about Korean food, but also about what I enjoy.
