    I'm a regular at this hotel but have seen the standards drop consistently. First at the spa and now the restaurant. The food was bad: I honestly thought the chef just needed to go home and rest. Harvest table- the fruits were not washed. We even found webs and an insect egg in the berries. The croissants didn't rise and slightly raw but he/she still served them. Breakfast: asked for pork he served beef after the waiter specifically said pork. It was just a mess all round. The only thing I can't falter are the waiters who are excellent. Then the issue of dead flies on the floor, which didn't help matters. Please rectify things. I have since stopped going to the spa because they were just not improving and now this. I love the hotel but if this continues it won't be worth it to stay loyal to it.

    It was my wife’s birthday, had a great lunch with some bubbles. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the food. How come we never heard of it before?

    What a find! Such a great team, from making the booking with Zanele, to Fesi who’s smile and love for what she does showed through, it was a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back! Thank you Fairlawns Team

    Unfortunately the whole experience was a disappointment from beginning to end. We were there to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday. We had booked on the terrace but were told on arrival that it was unavailable. We were constantly looking around for a waiter to order drinks or food. The majority of the dishes were cold, and too be honest rather tasteless. The buffet section was ok, but it took a while to replace foods that were finished, if they were replaced at all. The chef did come apologize afterwards which we really appreciated. Although we all still left hungry and far from satisfied with the experience. I’m not sure any of us would want to come back, especially for a special occasion

    The night was ruined by untrained staff and a very rude night manager, plus running out of champagne on New Year’s Eve early in the evening.

    I'm so glad to see this review in my inbox as I was planning on sending an email about our experience on Saturday (2/8/12/2019) at you high tea. We booked a high tea for 3 for a birthday celebration and I must say I was disappointed in the service and our overall experience. Your venue is beautiful however this is not the only part of a guests experience. Having dined and had many high teas across the world I won’t compared yours to international standards. I will however compare you to your local competition who I have dined at. Last year we did the birthday high tea at 54 on Bath and honestly I would go back there tomorrow. I’m sorry to that that the service and attention to detail far surpassed yours at Fairlawns. I’ll start at the beginning when we arrived we were pointed in the direction of the room were the high tea would be served (the host at reception did not accompany us) When we got to there there was no one there. So we walked all the way out into the gardens wondering if perhaps we had taken a wrong turn. Eventually someone came and asked if they could assist us. We were seated and our hostess brought out two pots of tea - we were confused because normally we get to select which tea we would like to taste and also perhaps have a copy of the menu for the day with the high tea items listed. One of the teas was black tea which non of us had any intention of ever ordering so we didn’t touch it. Had she perhaps asked our preferences we could have avoided this. Whilst our hostess was perfectly fine, she seems to rush us and also not provide the full high tea experience. One would expect that when she brings our the little platters that she would explain what each item on the plate it – we had to ask what were were being served. Unlike your counterparts at 54 on Bath and every other high tea I have ever attended, we were surprised that you do not replenish any of the items we may have preferred and may want seconds of. Another thing was that there were a lot of flies (I understand of course that you cannot control this) We asked if perhaps you had a candle or something to deter the flies and were assured that she would return with something. This did not happen however the other high tea table was provided with a ‘fly repellent fan’ When I made the reservation I did mention that we were celebrating a birthday. I don’t expect anything lavish but all establishments I have booked for a birthday always send a little extra ‘Happy Birthday’ cake/dessert for the table just to add that little special touch. These are all observations we made during our visit and trust that you will take this as constructive criticism. Whilst we had an enjoyable time at your beautiful venue I doubt that we would be visiting you again as the experience did not meet our expectations.
