As a third-generation family owner of Fairview, Charles Back II -- grandson of a butcher and son of a winemaker -- has continued the family legacy to nurture the land. Adding ‘cheese maker’ to the family repertoire, today the Back family really are a collection of butchers, bakers, wine and cheese makers! In 2015, Raphael joined the clan, directing the family offering online and partnering with Charles to create Back’s. Everything in our restaurant and deli is sourced from the family farms or from local artisans in the area. This ‘locavore’-style offering comes naturally to the Back’s, thanks to their long lineage of farming, with the fundamental basis of everything being grounded in integrity and quality. Our goal is simple: we want to bring you the best, ethically produced and hand-selected produce that just tastes better.

    Service from Brent was fantastic, steak was great and had a good bottle of Grenache to go with dinner. Not much of an ambience outside on the terrace as there’s no music but it was a great experience nonetheless. Will definitely be back to sample more food off the menu. Thanks for a great evening

    Booked through Dineplan on website. Were flagged to Paarl. When we arrived, no booking. At 8pm Paarl called to ask if we are still coming. My confirmation email said Stellenbosch deli.
