Was seated in upper deck. Sun catches you in your eyes. Kitchen extremely loud. Too much shouting and screaming

The service from our waiter was excellent, and the starters were delicious. Unfortunately, my main course, the paella, was disappointing. The prawns still had excrement in them, and one of the mussels had a beard. After raising this with the manager, he brought me three replacement prawns, however these unfortunately had the same issue, so I set them aside. At R260, I did not feel that the paella was value for money, as I would expect the prawns to be properly cleaned prior to cooking. While this was disappointing, our waiter kindly brought us a dessert as an apology for the mains, which was appreciated. On a positive note, my partner’s chicken dish was excellent, and he was extremely happy with his meal.

Great evening! Rob was out waiter and he did well. His assistant Keytlil? Was lovely too. Food amazing and all over super experience. Just one thing one if out party wanted a Semi sweet Rose byt wad given a dry Rose… perhaps look at including semi sweet ad an option as well. I wanted one last time and you did not have either. Just a suggestion thank you Felicity

Baia Grande Portuguese Restaurant responded on Tue 20 Jan 26:
Thank you for your review, Felicity, and for the kind words about our team — we truly appreciate your feedback. Our restaurant wine list focuses exclusively on Portuguese wines that we import directly. As Portugal traditionally produces very few semi-sweet styles, we unfortunately don’t carry these on our main list. While we do offer a limited selection of local wines via BarDouro, our adjoining wine bar, we’ve found that demand for semi-sweet wines is extremely low, which makes it difficult to stock them without unnecessary waste. We aim to curate a wine selection that suits the vast majority of our guests, and while we understand this may not meet every preference, we’re sorry that we couldn’t make your experience a full five-star one on this occasion. We do hope to welcome you back again.

The staff were magnificent. We were assisted by 5 different servers. Nothing was to much to ask and you never wait. Who ever is passing asks if you are good or if they can help. Great service and the food, well the prawns were fantastic. Keep it up and we will be back.
