Basalt is a completely new space and concept situated at The Peech Hotel. It is open for dinners only from Tuesday to Saturday. Under Head Chef Freddie Dias (of Pot Luck Club fame) the restaurant offers patrons a stylish and refined dining experience in the original heritage house of the hotel.

    It’s a lovely dining room but most of the tables are extremely close to each other and patrons entering and leaving hover over diners seated near the door - which is perfect only if you’re looking for a New York style dining experience. Food was hit or miss, with both the duck breast and line fish being tasty but over-salted. We loved the tuna appetizer but not the peach and tomato. Portions are quite small. Service was smooth and friendly.
