We were very disappointed with our experience at the Big Easy Ballito. We had a 12h30 booking on Sunday. The venue is stunning - gorgeous views, spacious and a very well appointed interior, so expectations were high. Unfortunately the food and service were not at the same standard. There were quite a few large tables and I think they were understaffed. Our waiter was not the most enthusiastic or energetic and was slow to attend to us. Many times our drinks were empty and no one approach us. He was busy with quite a few other large tables - but I felt the manager should have also stepped in to improve the experience. The food took ages, so I assume the kitchen was understaffed too. Again no apologies or expectation management from the waiter or manager - the arrival bread took over 30mins to come so that was clearly an indication of how the rest of the day would play out. When we ordered wine (bottle of big easy range) after 15mins our waiter came to tell us they had no stock and to pick another. How does an establishment named Big Easy not have sufficient stock of their own wine? The food experience when it did finally arrive was mixed - baby chicken, chicken curry and rump got good reviews. The rib eye and 2 sirloins were disappointing. The fat on the sirloin was inedible as it wasn't rendered. Only once our food had arrived did the manager approach us for the first time. By then we had no interest in engaging with him as we had been ignored the whole afternoon. Overall a huge disappointment and I hope they can learn from the feedback to improve the experience for other diners.

The view and ambience were amazing! I think we definitely enjoyed it a little more than the food... There were a few things off the menu that were not available so that was disappointing. Unfortunately our waiter wasn't the most friendliest or helpful but the manager was much more helpful. Overall 8/10 experience!

Pleasant evening overall, but sadly some real rookie mistakes :-( 1. Ran out of the Ernie Els Proprietors Blend wine (A Big Easy should never run out of its own wines!) 2. Seared Salmon main was overcooked (any junior chef knows that 50% should be raw, especially when this was requested to the waiter pre-order) 3. Irish coffee was served with cream that was sour, and then no fresh cream in stock to replace.
