An extremely disappointing evening, sufficiently bad that I will not return to Bilboa. We are on holiday for couple of months from England and dine at a Kove group restaurant at least twice a week, sometime 4. We love the food, service, decor and ambience. In my opinion, the Kove group reputation has been tarnished by very poor decision making at Bilboa. I won’t write at length but my husband and I couldn’t converse such was the volume of shouting, cheering and whooping from a large group of people who arrived at about 8.30pm. By way of explaining the raucous behaviour, we were told the group had been partying at Chinchilla and decided to come to Bilboa for food before continuing to party afterwards at Chincilla. Bad decision by Bilboa. Bilboa is a beautiful restaurant where people go to enjoy excellent food, excellent service and good wine - not dine in rowdy pub in Kloof Street. The manager did try to quieten them but my disappointment is that they should never have been given a table. I appreciate the restaurant wants to make money but 1) the group could have eaten at Chinchilla and 2) a Kove group restaurant MUST maintain certain standards to allow all diners to enjoy their evening as I am sure is intended. It was a dreadful experience and whilst I will keep the remaining bookings I have in the next week with Kove establishments, I will not be returning to Bilboa. Such a shame that one small decision ruined the evening of many people.
