The ambience was great. The portions are small considering the cost. Having to add rice at an additional fee is cheeky. There was not enough meat in the curry dishes, leaving many of us left with a lot of sauce. It was nice evening with tasty food, but I expected more.

The food was excellent, no question, but even though they call it fine dining, walking out of the restaurant still feeling hungry was a little disappointing, after spending more than I ever had for a single curry dish. Touches for the fine dining experience were really lovely, the cleanser was exquisite, complimentary starter, a lovely touch and the waiters were superb. There were two main complaints or observations though. A cup of basmati rice costing R70.00 is grossly obscene. Doubt it costs the restaurant more than R2.50 to make. This is why most Indian Restaurants in Cape Town offer rice as complimentary with a main course. That is by far the best way to do it. Second…, the wine. So over-priced, it forces one to have a single glass with food, which is still double what you would pay for a bottle at a liquor store. A full bottle was being marked-up by 600%. That is simply greedy on behalf of Management. By marking up by even 300% would have meant we would have bought a bottle instead of 2 glasses and your profit would have been the same. Think about it? When one walks out still hungry and a little ripped-off on the price of drinks, I am reluctant, in these tough economic times, to take my Intl. Clients to Bombay Brasserie, when there are very good alternatives at about 35% cheaper and just as good food-wise.

Always a pleasure coming to this restaurant. Had a bit of a bad patch a couple years ago with food being average. Now much much better and back to our past experiences from the past 10 years going there. Great service and food. Great quiet environment.
