    Cutlery ie knife supplied was not suitable as it was difficult to cut the pizza or pizza base was not right as it was tough to cut through

    I enjoy your pizza, but the wooden boards the pizzas are served on have a smell. I work in catering and know that frequent washing of these wooden boards isn’t preferable as it starts to smell really bad. And that smell, when hot food it placed on it, goes in to the food and that makes the food distasteful. It looks good, but taste wise not so much. I’ll visit again but hope to have my pizza served on a pizza plate so I can savour the pizza and the pizza + … toppings were a bit scarce on the pizza..

    From the photos and descriptions, we expected a nice cosy, wine-centered restaurant with a nice big roaring fire in the open-hearth fireplace. Instead, we found a business lounge/bistro-style on the second floor of a hotel, with no fire in the hearth, bright lights, and businesspeople working on laptops while gulping down food and wine. Except for the wine list consisting of excellent wines mostly (only?) from the Durbanville Valley at very, very cheap prices, the rest of the menu was, to say the least, underwhelming. We contemplated to leave, but then decided to stay because we booked days in advance, and the cold in the restaurant, we thought, was better than the cold outside. Unfortunately, the food was as unimaginative and dry as the interior. We shared a mains (butternut and feta risotto) for a starter; it was enough for two to share as a starter, and it was delicious. But both our mains were really a disappointment. The hake thermidor was oily and unpleasant, and the pork belly spent too long under a warming globe / oven. Worst part of the evening though is the horrible service ... It started when the waiter asked for our help because she broke the cork in the bottle. I kindly denied to offer assistance, because I didn't want to be held responsible for cork in the wine. Later on, after serving the mains, it took her more than 5 minutes to bring the jus that was supposed to be served with the pork belly. And after she brought it, we never saw her again. In the end I eventually had to walk to the bar to ask for our bill! And then, the cherry on top: When she brought the bill and card machine, she asked us to please tip her in cash!!! I have never ...
