Built in 1929 to reflect the spirit of 18th century Venice, Casa Labia is the former Muizenberg residence of Count and Countess Natale Labia. Following a complete two-year restoration by the family, this much-loved national monument was opened to the public on 5 May 2010 as South Africa’s most exquisite multi-functional cultural centre.

In September 2020 Management of Casa Labia Cultural Centre was taken over by Cape Town based company Ideas Cartel. The building comprises of a members club, coworking facilities and a public hosting restaurant. In November two suites will be available to book for overnight accommodation. The focus continues to be on providing an exceptional experience in an unforgettable and unique venue.

The Venue at Casa Labia can be booked for weddings, private events, dinners, conferences, cocktail parties and film or stills shoots.

The Restaurant at Casa Labia offers simple Italian style food, excellent wines, the best coffee in Muizenberg and home made cakes and pastries. Picnics can be prebooked and enjoyed on the lawn which has the most incredible views of the False Bay coastline. Dinner and Music evenings are hosted from 18h00 on Friday evenings - it is sure to be the go-to summer sundowner spot on the False Bay Coastline.

I Love the Casa Labia, its location and the gorgeous rooms. We had high tea on Sunday 22nd Jan 2023 and sat in the window overlooking Muizenber beach and sea. Sublime... Our waitress was sooo lovely and we had interesting teas (loved the ginger and chilli tea). Sadly, the food, which sounded amazing on the menu, was sub-par. for example, I loved the arancini and truffle balls - so tasty - but it was too oily. The fresh fruit and custard tart (I LOVE them) had TINY pieces of cut up fruit on them and was mostly just custartd - disappointing. The brownie was hard and dry as was the scone. The chicken rolled sandwich was strange and the cheesecaske had peanut butter on it (I REALLY don't like peanut butter, so NOT my thing). However, having said that, it was a peaceful lovely afternoon spent with my nearest and dearest. I probably won't do a high tea there again but might try lunch for example.
