We are a cashless property.

At Delheim we are extremely proud of our atmospheric “Downstairs” cellardoor, with its famous cobwebbed window. Very little has changed here over the years since it became the birthplace of the Stellenbosch Wine Route in 1971. The patriarch of the Sperling family, Michael “Spatz” Sperling, was one of the three founder members of this wine route, from which all the other wine routes in the country originated. It is therefore imperative that we continue to provide guests with a truly unique South African hospitality experience, and to make them feel at home, in order to share our belief that a visit to Delheim really is “worth the journey”.

WINE & FYNBOS CUPCAKE PAIRING

Delheim has always been famous for its tasting room pairing of bespoke cupcakes with its wines. Now, the experience goes next-level with an all-new twist of this evergreen favourite that puts the Cape’s famous Floral Kingdom and the Stellenbosch stalwart’s eco-friendly winemaking front-and-centre.

This latest addition employs an entirely new range of fynbos-inspired cupcakes to showcase the excellence of Delheim wines.

Our wine tasting group had a lovely outing to Delheim. As the weather was chilly, we had to miss sitting on the terrace with its splendid views and move inside to the very cosy and gemutlich cellar where the tables were beautifully set for our tasting and meal. August Pepe, wine connoisseur and sommelier, presented the wines with flair, baffling us with a blind tasting! The delicious homemade bread was a bonus, and the food was most enjoyable. Guests really enjoyed the bobotie, fish cakes and springbok carpaccio, less so the Eintopf bean and sausage which looked like a tin of baked beans in tomato sauce. Beware - the chicken curry portion is enormous - it would feed a family! One quibble: lunch was served halfway through the wine tasting, which confused flavours and added to the noise, making the wine presentation difficult to hear. Overall, many thanks to the team.

Had a great afternoon and Wine tasting with the cupcakes was very good. Would have liked to see a bit more smaller starter plates on the menu to pick with a wine tasting . Otherwise the bigger platters quite expensive. Enjoyed by everybody.
