The Bailey is located at 91 Bree Street in the heart of the Mother City, Cape Town. Set in a historic building , the Bailey is designed in the classic tradition and inspired by some of the grand all-day cafés and restaurants of Europe.

The Bailey is a collaboration between Liam and Jan Tomlin, and the owners of Tintswalo Lodges (Lisa and Warwick Goosen, and Gaye and Ernest Corbett).

Tomlin continues his culinary magic at this new address, with Head Chef Jacques Grové taking the reins as Head Chef, assisted by Dian Botes as Sous Chef and Head Pastry Chef San-Marie Pienaar.

The Bailey Café
On the ground level, the glamorous lobby café features a patisserie with delicious cakes, tarts, pastries and fresh juices. It serves all-day English or Irish breakfast, as well as brunch, light lunch and High Tea. The café is open for pre- and post-theatre drinks and eats, serving champagne and wine all day until closing, with last orders at 9pm.

The Old Bailey
The Old Bailey Whiskey Bar with its rooftop terrace is evocative of top-end members’ clubs and bars in London and New York. Stylish table service offers an extensive whiskey collection, premium wines and cocktails are served in a sophisticated space.

Dress-code is smart for The Old Bailey, inviting guests to relax and socialise within a like-minded community.

Incredible food. So good to have Chefs Warehouse back! And the absolute treat is that you can now order any tapas that you want, as much or as little as you fancy. All the dishes we ordered were absolutely superb. Can’t wait to return.

In short: if the other Chef Warehouse restaurants are at par then the Bailey is a disappointment to the brand. Feels like having a continental breakfast at a 2 star Hotel.

We enjoyed the meal very much. But the deposit of 300 Rand was not tightened on the bill. This is an impertinence and not tolerable . We contacted the restaurant by phone the next day and to date the money has not been returned to the credit card. I expect this to be rectified.

So happy to have Chefs Warehouse back in town! Delicious fare, good portions, and I like the change up where you can order individual dishes vs. set tapas menu. Mushroom risotto a must-have, but really all the food was amazing. Service fantastic! Lovely ambience but could do with a little more lighting but that didn't deter from our all round great evening. We will definitely be back!

I was expecting so much more from this restaurant. It was extremely hot and there was no air conditioning so we had a fan blowing on us. The service was not attentive, all the ice in the ice bucket melted and wine was served warm. The waitron couldn’t seem to explain what had been served, dishes didn’t all come out together, long delays between them

Food was largely excellent. One issue was octopus which was tough and chewy. Service was a little slow too as not enough waiters. Otherwise great location and vibe. Will probably come back when they have been operating a bit longer.
