The 300 seater Chiefs Boma African Dining Experience Restaurant, located in the tranquil indigenous gardens of the Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre caters for all tastes. Cuisine is truly African from the North African Moroccan Dishes to Koeksisters and Melktert from the Cape. With over 120 dishes, everyone will find their favourite.

The Boma also boasts a "Shisa Nyama" grill where our Chefs will prepare your preferred cut of meat, carefully selected by our on-premises butcher, to your specification – a great combination of Buffet and Tailor-made Cooking to suit all tastes. A variety of game meats including Springbok, Impala, Ostrich and the Boma Signature "Big 5 Kebab" is also offered.

Enjoy Sundowners or Craft Beer on the deck overlooking the Boma Dam featuring Soweto Gold On Tap. Meander through the Boma Herb Garden before sitting down to enjoy your meal to the sounds of the Resident African Marimba Band – and when all is done, enjoy a glass of red wine or roast a marshmallow over Boma Fire.

...a truly African Dining Experience

This was a tremendous disappointment. There was none of the African traditional handwashing, and face painting referenced online. The drumming only started at 7pm - disappointing for those of us who booked for the 18:00 dinner service. The table placemats are faded and some ripped. The wooden deck is worn and unvarnished, as are some of the tables - overall it looks neglected and sad. Staff are unfriendly, across the board - everything is an effort for them. The signature cocktail wasn't available. They were out of draught beer. The food was totally underwhelming, except for the lamb curry. The place is also overrun by tourists who come in by the busload - nice business model, because you can charge international prices for low quality food and not worry about how underwhelmed your guests are, because they're once-off visitors anyway. Problem is you feel like you're at an MMA fight with foreigners shoving to get in front of you - it's just terribly undignified. My husband, daughter and I went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and chose this place because our wedding reception was at The Indaba 22 years ago.... We got there at 6pm, and left in a hurry by 7pm. We could have saved ourselves a fortune and just gone to Steers. Do better, Indaba. You used to be a landmark.
