What a lovely experience it was! We were blown away by the tasty food, the service and enjoyed every single second of this experience. Our waiter Blessing did a sterling job, we will definitely be back for more!

What a dissapointment: half an hour after sitting , with me getting up to ask for service where we able to place our first drinks order. 1 and half hours into the tea - only 4 items presented. massive menu changes: chicken liver pate became creme cheese? told the waiter.. " oh sorry" Last 4 Cape Town courses became left overs from the display cabinet .. didnt Pay R778.40 ( enforced 12% tip added to the bill) for old macaroons.. can get those in Checkers.. cut up kiwi and strawberry .. on questioning the waiter on all the menu changes he said maybe we had no seen the updated menu? ... i had downloaded it as we where sitting there off the COCO SAFAR site as I could tell things where going pear shape and I wanted to have my facts in order on what had been sold to us... It was like sitting in the Wimpy.. nothing like the video on the website at ... way false advertising .. very strange billing system too... get a forced 12 % tip added onto the high tea as well as a forced 12% tip added onto our drinks which we where told where included in the high tea... on questioning this we here told the barista also needs a tip? I have a chef in franschhoek and used to eating out.. have never had a drinks bill and food bill with enforced 12 % tips on each.. waiters uniforms all needed ironing, and some where badly strained. total rip off, and I am used to Franschhoek prices.. this was disgusting.

Enjoyed the dining experience, however for a 'High Tea' at R700pp to be charged for the tea and water separately is a bit stingy and cheap, wouldn't go back again, for over R1500 could spend a night at a safari and get way better value for money.

Half of the dishes were disappointing in terms of taste. The website menu differs from what we received. It's double the price of other high teas but you don't get anything more, better or different so it's not worth the money.

Appalling experience - I would give 0 stars if I could. I wanted to treat my dad to a special Father’s Day high tea, but the whole thing was a joke. For R695 a head and a table of 6, you expect top service - but we had to wait about 20 minutes between each course. Service was so slow that after one and a half hours we weren’t even a third of the way through! In-between courses we were left to sit bored and hungry. The tea was meant to go from 3pm to 5pm - so at 5.30pm (with 4 courses still to go) we had to ask for the rest to be packed up to take away. The waiter was trying his best but was clearly inexperienced and out of his depth. The explanations of what was being served were also underwhelming and delivered without any flair, and everything was just disjointed and awkward. The food itself was ok but certainly not amazing. I don’t blame the wait staff or kitchen though - this is 100% just poor management, lack of training and false advertising. Worst of all, Coco Safar's website clearly states with regards the High Tea, and I quote “whilst our Beverage Curator will help you pair your experience with a fitting botanical tea or specialty coffee experience table side…” there was no such beverage curator. We had to ask for a drinks menu, which we handed around and picked coffees and teas from ourselves - not at all the personalised, curated experience that we paid for. I honestly don’t understand the positive reviews of the high tea, it was a disaster - and a very expensive one! I paid over R4000 just to have an awful two and a half hours. I would strongly advise that anyone reading should steer clear of this place.
