Creation’s new-look Tasting Room has introduced bright pops of colour with glass sculptures, complementing the all-encompassing views of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Local, of course. Sleek wooden tables and sheepskin-covered chair seats in winter add to the welcoming ambience indoors. Here, every season is given equal emphasis with a sensory food-and-wine pairing menu crafted to stage the regional bounty.

The vine leads the way, with six courses conceptualised to make the wine shine. The Ayurvedic ethos ensures that tasters and diners leave with a lightness of being. The focus on wellness ensures that, from the amuse bouche, your blood sugars are kept steady. Ingredients are not overworked; simple ingredients eloquently combined, like tofu, sesame seeds, and ginger, are fried to create a delectable crust. Chef Eleanor Niehaus leads a unified kitchen brigade, many of whom hold wine qualifications and are sent to Europe for constant exposure and
upskilling. Every team member is obviously passionate about the place, produce, and their role.

Attention to detail is sublime. Note the pottery plate pressed with a Pinot Noir vine leaf, the silk scarf presented for you to touch, a feather, and even a shell to hold to your ear – it’s all part of a multi-course odyssey that engages every sense, a testament to co-owner Carolyn Martin’s sixth sense. There is something for everyone, from breakfast and a kid’s menu to charcuterie and cheese platters. It’s unofficially the gastronomic ambassador of the Overberg and Cape Floral Kingdom, simply heaven on a plate.

    Our waiter asked if we wanted water, when we declined he didn't offer anything else. Someone came by to offer a welcoming wine. It was quite cold so we said we will have it later after coffee, but it wasn't requested again. An elderly waiter came by and brought us a welcoming overnight oats, but only gave it to the females around the table and not for the men although he had more. We had to ask our waiter to please explain how the breakfast work since the welcoming oats was the first on the menu, we were not sure if we should be eating everything. He then explained that it is a welcoming oats. When we were done he returned with oats for the 2 men at the table and apologised. Our waiter never returned after our meal and we struggled to find someone to bring us the bill. We wanted to have our daughter's 21st there and tried it out. We all felt that the service was not up to standard and decided against it

    It was Great And wie enjoyed it very much. The Best Food we had in SA. P.S.: Did you find a Cream-coloured Pullover maybe outside in the waiting area for the Taxis? I lost it yesterday.

    I'm a Travel agent from Canada who had 2 couple touring S Africa. My husband and I are staying in Hermanus and wanted somewhere special to take these clients while they were visiting Hermanus for 2 nights. Well, this was the perfect choice, we all loved the 5 chapter food & wine pairing. A very enjoyable afternoon. What a nice treat!!
