Creation’s new-look Tasting Room has introduced bright pops of colour with glass sculptures, complementing the all-encompassing views of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Local, of course. Sleek wooden tables and sheepskin-covered chair seats in winter add to the welcoming ambience indoors. Here, every season is given equal emphasis with a sensory food-and-wine pairing menu crafted to stage the regional bounty.

The vine leads the way, with six courses conceptualised to make the wine shine. The Ayurvedic ethos ensures that tasters and diners leave with a lightness of being. The focus on wellness ensures that, from the amuse bouche, your blood sugars are kept steady. Ingredients are not overworked; simple ingredients eloquently combined, like tofu, sesame seeds, and ginger, are fried to create a delectable crust. Chef Eleanor Niehaus leads a unified kitchen brigade, many of whom hold wine qualifications and are sent to Europe for constant exposure and
upskilling. Every team member is obviously passionate about the place, produce, and their role.

Attention to detail is sublime. Note the pottery plate pressed with a Pinot Noir vine leaf, the silk scarf presented for you to touch, a feather, and even a shell to hold to your ear – it’s all part of a multi-course odyssey that engages every sense, a testament to co-owner Carolyn Martin’s sixth sense. There is something for everyone, from breakfast and a kid’s menu to charcuterie and cheese platters. It’s unofficially the gastronomic ambassador of the Overberg and Cape Floral Kingdom, simply heaven on a plate.

    Creation Wines in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is one of those rare places that gets absolutely everything right, and our recent visit left us completely enchanted. What sets Creation apart, beyond the exceptional food and wine, is the genuine warmth of the staff. Two of my children are autistic, and the team accommodated them with such natural ease and kindness that it made the whole experience feel completely effortless. There was a playroom for younger children, and a thoughtfully designed Young Adults menu that had our 9 year old enjoy lunch. As a family travelling with a toddler, a teenager, and children with additional needs, finding a fine dining destination that truly works for everyone is no small thing. Creation manages it beautifully, and without any fuss. The food was outstanding. Each course was carefully considered, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The wine pairings were exceptional, showcasing exactly why this corner of the Hemel-en-Aarde has earned its reputation as one of South Africa's most exciting wine regions. The setting, rolling vineyards, mountain views, and that particular quality of afternoon light, made everything feel a little magical. What we will remember most, though, is how welcome we felt as a family. Not tolerated, not merely accommodated, but genuinely welcomed. That is rarer than it should be, and Creation deserves enormous credit for it. If you are looking for a Hemel-en-Aarde experience that combines world-class hospitality with real inclusivity and warmth, Creation Wines delivers on every level. We will absolutely be back.

    Creation for the win once more! I have celebrated 3 birthdays consecutively and each experience builds from the last. I enjoyed the lovely shank, fall off the bone tender. The staff of course, Brenda, Bianca & Khali made the day so much more special. Being introduced to one of the owners too was a treat. Creation has my heart!

    It was an absolutely fantastic experience. One the best wine pairings that I have ever had and I would highly recommend Creation Wines wine pairing to anyone that want to be treated like royalty. I can't wait to visit again and do it all over again. Well done to the team Creation Wines for making us welcome like old friends and spoiling us with all the delicious food and wine.

    It was the first time we were at Creation wines after lots of planning for hubbies 50th birthday just the 2 of us. And everyone was recommending me to take him there. I will be very honest in my response, i feel the food is completely overpriced for what you get. It is not all that. I do feel your wines are devine and stunning and the staff is friendly. However we had 2 ladies serving us and one of them it felt like she just wanted to finish and was not in the mood to be there or no attention to detail so it made our whole experience feel like just another dining out with no extra care or feel to it. We did get a little plate to say happy birhtday which i want to thank you for. But by the end it felt like just another day. Where i just wanted to make hubby feel special and it was the hightlite of our weekend away to dine at Creation. We left feeling we paid way more for what we got. But well done on the stunning wines.
