Gourmet Guide™ Description

Creation’s new-look Tasting Room has introduced bright pops of colour with glass sculptures, complementing the all-encompassing views of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Local, of course. Sleek wooden tables and sheepskin-covered chair seats in winter add to the welcoming ambience indoors. Here, every season is given equal emphasis with a sensory food-and-wine pairing menu crafted to stage the regional bounty.

The vine leads the way, with six courses conceptualised to make the wine shine. The Ayurvedic ethos ensures that tasters and diners leave with a lightness of being. The focus on wellness ensures that, from the amuse bouche, your blood sugars are kept steady. Ingredients are not overworked; simple ingredients eloquently combined, like tofu, sesame seeds, and ginger, are fried to create a delectable crust. Chef Eleanor Niehaus leads a unified kitchen brigade, many of whom hold wine qualifications and are sent to Europe for constant exposure and
upskilling. Every team member is obviously passionate about the place, produce, and their role.

Attention to detail is sublime. Note the pottery plate pressed with a Pinot Noir vine leaf, the silk scarf presented for you to touch, a feather, and even a shell to hold to your ear – it’s all part of a multi-course odyssey that engages every sense, a testament to co-owner Carolyn Martin’s sixth sense. There is something for everyone, from breakfast and a kid’s menu to charcuterie and cheese platters. It’s unofficially the gastronomic ambassador of the Overberg and Cape Floral Kingdom, simply heaven on a plate.

    Fantastic place. Maybe too much hearts in the food ( meaning potatoes cut as heart etc)

    Very nice place and good wine and food. But for the price of 1850, it was to little wine( 8 cl off each)

    We had a delightful wine tasting. Hostess was friendly and knowledgeable and generous with pouring comparison glasses to our table. The view of the vineyards overlooking the deck was peaceful. The food and wine pairing menu looked fabulous- arrive hungry should you wish to partake. Overall, highly recommend.
