In 1968 the property was acquired by Historical Homes to be restored - later leased as a restaurant. During 2016 the Rupert family initiated a full restoration, today De Volkskombuis operates once again as a restaurant serving patrons within Stellenbosch.

    We always enjoy the excellent service and experience. The food is also so delicious but it would be nice to see some new items on the menu seasonally. I think I know the entire menu by heart!

    The bobotie was fantastic as always. We asked for extra banana ( as you tradionally eat it) and also it's only R10 as a extra on the menu. When the bill came, they charged us R60 for the extra banana I rarely ever complain, but joh... That's a rip off.
