Located at 84 Harrington Street, East City Grill & Yakiniku brings two dining concepts
under one roof — a celebration of South African heritage and Asian flair, led by Executive
Chef Jaycee Ferreira.
At East City Grill, Ferreira’s flame-led cooking and local Wagyu define a menu rooted in
South African tradition yet shaped by Asian influence and Cape Town’s modern edge.
Across the room, Yakiniku offers an immersive Japanese-style grill experience inspired by
Tokyo’s smoky yakiniku-ya, where guests cook, share, and connect around the flame.
Housed within a landmark hemp building designed by Wolf & Wolf Architects, it’s two
flames, one destination, and a new rhythm for the city.

    Sublime experience from beginning to end. The katsu sandwich was so good, I never wanted it to end, saying nothing about the decor, ambience and wonderful courtesy we were treated with the moment we stepped inside. Surprisingly affordable fine dining as well, for a local!

    The food was average, probably a pallete thing. The biltong butter was basically marmite to us so it was a No, but the corn bread was the best food of the night. The food is rich if I can summarize it that way and nothing spectacular. But compared to other places, the prices were not jaw dropping. Perhaps we didnt choose best off the menu.
