under one roof — a celebration of South African heritage and Asian flair, led by Executive
Chef Jaycee Ferreira.
At East City Grill, Ferreira’s flame-led cooking and local Wagyu define a menu rooted in
South African tradition yet shaped by Asian influence and Cape Town’s modern edge.
Across the room, Yakiniku offers an immersive Japanese-style grill experience inspired by
Tokyo’s smoky yakiniku-ya, where guests cook, share, and connect around the flame.
Housed within a landmark hemp building designed by Wolf & Wolf Architects, it’s two
flames, one destination, and a new rhythm for the city.

    Was very excited to visit this new restaurant and dissapointed to be dissapointed. We ordered a steak that was so tough we couldnt cut it. As the restaurant doesn't include sides we order two sides to accompany our steak bringing the cost to almost R500 for a 300gm sirloin steak meal. The steak was removed from our bill but the sides were not. Overall, the meal was just incredibly rich and provided no value. Staff were great and the place looks slick

    We had a fantastic evening! This is my 5th or 6th visit back to East City Grill since it opened. It's currently my favorite restaurant in Cape Town. Well done Jaycee Ferreira and team! Highly recommended.

    The food was really impressive and so was the service. Anything Wagyu is very very tasty! The space is absolutely beautiful! The only reason I rated Ambience down was that there was a very large rowdy table of around 30 people having drinks that the restaurant was unable to control - i'm not sure what can be done in this case. They seemed to have come in already a bit tipsy and that turned the atmosphere in the restaurant a bit too rowdy. Overall though, prior to the big table arriving, the restaurant is a great date night spot. Food with starters, cocktails and mains is at around R1500 per couple. Tip is included into the bill.

    We had an amazing experience and were treated like royalty. The food was delicious and the service right on point. Looking forward to my next visit.

    The Ambience and service was excellent. However the potatoes dauphionoise had an overpowering salty taste
