What a great experience! From the welcome at the door, to the lovely waiter, to the manager (or owner?) checking in - amazing hospitality. The food 10/10. Before our order arrived, we were given a tasty Amuse-bouche. We then had the Pan seared yellowtale, braised beef brisket both with the most delicious hassleback potatoes and Eton mess for dessert. Plenty of drinks to choose from but I would highly recommend the Lemongrass French 75. It was worth the morning trip from Cape Town and we will be back!

The food was fine but not in comparison of other local places at the similar price point. We felt everything was slightly under seasoned so nothing stood out. Food was a little slow out of kitchen as it appeared two large parties were sat right before we arrived. Service needs a little more training for a fine dining experience. Server had to ask the chef about one of the appetizer when asked what it was and what it contained. I selected a glass of wine and the server came back said it was not available, however he didn’t follow-up with an alternative selection as expected. A wood burning fireplace at warmth to the space. However, the overall lighting is dim so we needed to use our phones to read the menu.

Eleven strives to be a high end gastronomic destination, and mostly it succeeds. Amuse Bouche of biltong, olives and focaccia bread was good. Of our two starters, I preferred tuna carpaccio which was a straightforward Asian take while my husband preferred the springbok tartar. The raw springbok was roughly chopped rather than minced. The accompanying quail egg yolk dabs didn’t add a lot of flavor. On the main courses, we both agreed that the cured duck was by far the better choice. Curing give it a salted chewier texture. It was accompanied by a tasty carrot curry compote and tiny baby carrots. Unfortunately the yellow tail main course fell flat. It was fishy and overcooked. Only the corn chowder broth was delicious. Disappointing. Finally, the Eton Mess dessert, while very pretty to look at, I.e. not a mess at all, it was so deconstructed that all the flavors were separate instead of the meld it usually is. I was saddened to see a super hard meringue rather than chewy in the middle. You had to use real force to break the meringue which meant the layer of white chocolate smooshed out the sides immediately. Nice try.

Food was outstanding!! Service was very good, but we had a hard time understanding our server. NOT our server fault, but soft spoken and fast speaker, so missed a lot. Also, we had the wine pairing menu and the wine we were served was not the wine on the menu, but leftover. We realized this several tastings in and got a menu back to follow. So my tip would be to remain a menu to understand what food and wine is for each course. We were so full at the end, be sure to go on an empty stomach. Thank you Chef Scott for an amazing food experience.
