A great find with fabulous food. We especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the line fish ceviche but everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

A leisurely lunch or dinner at Ember & Oak is always a delight. This was certainly the case for my wife, me, and some of our house guests this evening. The creative small plates, three to four per person, were absolutely delicious and received high praise from everyone, with only one exception. The fish dishes, in particular, were a big hit! However, the wine selection didn't quite suit our taste. The red wines from Uitsig, in particular, weren't especially good, but they were expensive; the price-performance ratio simply wasn't right. Only the unwooded Chardonnay from Uitsig was quite good—a solid, fresh white wine, which is the one we always have to stick to here, as wines from other producers can't be offered by the local restaurants due to restrictions imposed by the landlord (Uitsig). We will definitely be returning to Ember & Oak soon, preferably for lunch. Unfortunately, there was one point of criticism: Our booking for a group of seven for 8:00 pm was accepted, but there wasn't enough time for so many people to choose from the various dishes and eat in peace. We were informed shortly before 9:00 pm that the kitchen was about to close. So we all had to order the remaining tapas at once and "enjoy" them together. I would have appreciated more sensitivity from the restaurant management in this regard. Nevertheless, I can still recommend this imaginative cuisine to guests of the "Constantia Cottages".

It is a pity that Constantia Uitsig now feels like a soulless roadside attraction. I found Ember & Oak overpriced. The food is by no means bad but lacks refined finesse of flavours. The service, although friendly, is somewhat inattentive.
