The wagyu bavette was so flavour full, the oxtail and vetkoek starter was delicious. The seafood pasta could have had a little more flavour and the 28day aged sirloin was tough. Otherwise the service was exceptional and ambience was good

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent visit to Gigi. We're delighted you enjoyed the wagyu bavette and the oxtail and vetkoek starter – we take pride in those dishes! We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the seafood pasta and the 28-day aged sirloin. We understand that the pasta lacked the depth of flavor you were expecting, and we apologize that the sirloin wasn't as tender as it should have been. We continuously strive to improve our menu and ensure every dish meets our high standards. Thank you again for your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back soon! Regards Chef Moses Moloi

The place looks beautiful, and has a pleasing aesthetic. I was disappointed with the food and descriptions of it on the menu. Had the Halloumi starter which was good, but the Chicken Risotto was rather spicy which wasn’t indicated. When I raised the concern, I was advised that “all risotto is spicy” which isn’t true. They then offered to redo it without the chilli and the meal came back bland with less chicken and still tastes like chilli. I couldn’t eat it and cut my losses. My friend had the chicken liver starter and the vetkoek was alright, liver a bit bland also. She said her linguine pasta was delicious.

Dear Zinhle Simamane Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're pleased to hear that you found our establishment aesthetically pleasing, and we appreciate your compliments on our ambiance. We're truly sorry to hear about your disappointment with the food and the experience you had with our Chicken Risotto. We apologize for any confusion regarding the spiciness, as it certainly wasn't our intention to mislead you. Your feedback about the dish being unexpectedly spicy has been duly noted, and we'll take immediate steps to review and adjust our menu descriptions accordingly to provide clearer information to our guests. We're also disheartened to learn that our efforts to rectify the situation fell short of your expectations, resulting in a less than satisfactory dining experience. Please know that this is not reflective of our usual standards, and we're committed to addressing this matter internally to ensure that such instances are avoided in the future. Regarding the Chicken Liver starter, we appreciate your feedback and will make sure to review the preparation to ensure it meets the expected standards of flavor and quality. On a positive note, we're delighted to hear that your friend enjoyed the linguine pasta. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your valuable feedback, as it helps us improve and better serve our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a more enjoyable dining experience. Warm regards, Moses Moloi

The food was just heavenly, loved the option of small and larger portions so you are able to try a few meal options if you’re indecisive like me. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the cocktail I had, don’t remember the name but the ambience/vibe was great too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent visit to Gigi ! we are thrilled to hear you found the food "heavenly." We're especially happy you enjoyed the option of having smaller portions. It allows for more adventurous diners, like yourself, to explore our menu and try a variety of dishes. We appreciate your honest feedback about the cocktail. While we can't recall the specific drink you had without a name, we'd love to learn more about what you didn't enjoy. Perhaps you could describe the flavors or base spirit? This feedback helps our bartenders improve their craft and ensure we have something on the menu for every taste. We're glad you enjoyed the overall ambience and vibe of the restaurant! Would you be open to us reaching out to discuss your experience with the cocktail a bit further? We'd love to hear your suggestions and maybe even recommend something similar you might enjoy on your next visit. moses@gigirestaurant.co.za I look forward to welcoming you back soon! The wines we were sold was overpriced. Their menu had a 2022 Crystullum Bona Fine Pinot Noir at R1,500. Upon ordering this wine, they informed us that they didn’t have it and brought out 2023 Crystullum Peter Max. Upon informing them that the pricing ought to be different, they gave a reason that the supplier sold to them these wines at the same price. I further asked the waiter to inform the head chef/owner about this predicament and he dilly dallied until I left annoyed. Wouldn’t go back to the restaurant again after the experience. In the positive side, we were offered some extra desert which was pleasant and unrelated to our wine debacle.

Some of the food was over salted, the salad was as in a watery dressing. The vetkoek was super salty and dry the oxtail. The prawns were not great at all. Tasted like the vein had not been removed. The calamari was good. The service was shocking. Sizwe was our only waiter and he was mostly outside in the sun and we were inside looking for him. Portia was great and attentive and we wish she was our waitress. The music is super loud and the polyester serviettes are really for putting, a natural fabric would make sense.
