    We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious, it just felt like the waiters forgot about us at some stages of the evening. Regardless, we will be back again no doubt.

    Good Morning, We visit higher class restaurants quite often so have good experience when it comes to what one should expect when visiting a restaurant like the Grub & Vine; at least how it is sold on your website and social media. The service was really below standard. Our waitress and waiter mumbled below the loud music so even after asking numerous times to repeat themselves we struggled to understand what they were saying about the food and wine. Our wine server was ok but had a limited knowledge of the wine list. We drank white wine and I had a few beers. The wine was not chilled enough and when changing bottles, we were not always offered clean glasses. Both our waitress and waiter/helper had no clue what beers were available and they arrived warm too and twice wrong orders were brought to the table and were sent back. (This must be costing you guys a fortune as they were simply not listening.) Our waitress made us feel horribly rushed throughout the evening. We were asked twice to order our meals before our drinks had arrived. We then asked her to leave us alone and we would call her when we were ready, but no, a few minutes later she is back with her note pad - not on. They were simply not paying attention! We found the food to be average I'm afraid and even with such a small menu there were two things not available if I can remember correctly. One was the oysters - come on guys. For a bill of R 8 000.00 for four people I expect a heap better than this. We had booked the Green Room as this was sold as a cozy romantic area with a patio and private bar. The patio and the bar were closed. So, we were moved to the main area and put at a table right on top of the couple next to us. I would have mentioned something at the time, I normally do. But it was a double birthday booking and we had invited friends to join us, and I did not want to make a scene on such a special occasion. This is why I am taking the time to send this detailed message. All in all, not a great experience.

    We went for lunch and were given the option to order à la carte, which was just what we needed. The sommelier was especially knowledgable and fun to chat with. Highly recommend!
