We’re there for lunch on a Tuesday. It was empty. Food was excellent, but it took almost 90min to get our meal. Good thing we weren’t in a rush.

Grub & Vine Bree Str. responded on Wed 18 Mar 26:
Thank you for your feedback. We’re really glad you enjoyed the food, but we’re sorry about the long wait that’s not the experience we aim to provide. We appreciate your patience and will work on improving our service timing.

We had a lovely time, friendly and competent staff. Especially our waiter, Sam who was very professional and treated us with a complementary birthday dessert. The food was excellent and atmosphere relaxed. We will definitely return!

Underwhelming service. Oysters dry, served with no lemon. When asked for lemon for them, they brought slices and not wedges, obviously not possible to squeeze a slice of lemon onto an oyster. Food was great, otherwise. Wine was fab. No finesse from waiters, always had to try to get their attention after waiting for a while.

We had a fantastic experience at Grub & Vine this week. Santé menu was great and the Botriver pairing was a winner. Thanks to Sam for taking care of us and the whole team for a memorable night.

What would have been a lovely dining experience was unfortunately compromised by very slow service. Our dinner took over 3 hours to complete. However the food was delicious and the setting quite charming.

We booked the Valentine’s dinner and, unfortunately, it turned out to be the most disappointing dining experience we’ve ever had — especially considering the premium price. We arrived early and were told to wait at the bar until the Green Room was ready. No one ever came to fetch us, and after nearly an hour we discovered from another guest that we had been waiting in the wrong area entirely. The Green Room had been ready the whole time, but we were never informed. Once seated, the evening continued downhill. A five‑course menu ended up taking six hours. Each course arrived almost an hour apart, often cold, and the wine pairing was poured 20–30 minutes before the food. In one case, the sommelier even refilled our glasses because the food still hadn’t arrived. By 10pm, after only three courses, multiple tables had already left without finishing their meals, and the remaining guests were openly complaining. Even the serving staff apologised repeatedly, saying things like “finally your food is here,” which made it clear the kitchen and floor teams recognised the issues. By the end of the night, we were so hungry that we stopped for McDonald’s after midnight — a surreal way to end a meal that cost nearly R5,000. We had hoped for a memorable Valentine’s experience, but instead left frustrated, hungry, and deeply disappointed. A restaurant of this calibre should deliver far better consistency, communication, and service.

We had booked the Green Room as prefered seating and ambience only to be changed. Seating space in the Grab n Vine is small, always bumbing into other guests tables and chairs. Its not intimate at all. Card machine was allegedly not working, had to draw some cash(unnecessary admin)
