    We enjoyed our evening at Grub and vine. I was however not very impressed with the food. Both my choices lacked to impress me. The leek tart was presented well but the blue cheese was overwhelming, the crotons were a bit soggy and not crispy and the leeks were not washed well and a bit gritty. The main dish was also a disappointment on taste. Presented very well, but was overwhelmingly salty. I had a taste of my husbands food and his choices were very good. The ostrich and the lamb were excellent and I regretted my choices. We might consider going back because the ambience and service is top notch.

    My partner and I had dinner at Grub & Vine last night and had an exceptional experience. The food was delicious, with super interesting flavors, and the wine list was beautifully curated. We got a suggestion of a white blend that I never would have tried but was so complex and multifaceted, and it went perfectly with my food. The ambiance of the space was perfect, and we had a great night. I only wish we had the time to check out the Green Room and the wine bar as well!

    On Saturday, 22 April, my friend and I went for a food and wine pairing at Grub and Vine restaurant in Cape Town. We had made a booking on Dineplan indicating this was our intention, and when we arrived we reaffirmed this with our waiter. The menu had a Food Tasting option at a set price which did not include wine, and then the wine pairing option at a different price. We ordered the wine pairing, expecting a food and wine pairing. When the bill arrived, we were charged for the Food Tasting menu AND the wine pairing menu. We indicated to the waiter that he had made a mistake, at which point he revealed that the wine pairing menu was a supplement to, and did not include the food tasting. This was not indicated on the menu, or at any point during the evening or our booking process. We paid the bill, and when we got home I emailed the owner of the establishment directly explaining how we had been misled by the wording on their menu and seeking resolution. Despite numerous attempts, the establishment has not responded to my emails and requests for resolution. I notice, with some disgust, that they have since my complaints gone ahead and corrected their menu, but still have not contacted me directly or responded to my emails. I have reported them to the Office of the Consumer Protector in Cape Town.
