Food was a huge let down. Spoke to chef beforehand with one of us not eating raw meat. He said he will do a baked bree... in the end he forgot and gave this cold cheesy dish that was really not great. Main meal was ice cold. Fillet was absolutely tasteless. One would at least think some sauce would come with it. My potato side was still raw, and could eat it. Really very very disappointed. Boschkloof wines on the other hand, never disappoint

Last nite was a bit of a disappointment: welcome drink served warm, main course served cold, waiters flustered and very noisy - like the party was in the kitchen. Acoustics very poor - could not hear at all. The event had a pub-like atmosphere, not the sofisticated elegance we are used to at Hemmingways. Where was the piano player?

Besides seeing the owner screaming at the staff the whole time.... I really enjoyed it, everything was perfect. I would suggest a GIN pairing please :) thanks

Booked for Valentines dinner. Didn't have any visibility on the menu until the evening itself. Was a bit disappointed with the options, as only one fish (hake) starter, and Chicken cordon blue as only one of two main options seemed extremely expensive at R390 for the budget options on the menu. Service was shocking, as one waiter dumped two starters on our table before we even had an option to order drinks. There were no plates on the salad table, so most guests had to go back to their tables to fetch their side plates. Most plates were empty.. so we were scraping the last bits out. When our wine were finished we had to go to the bar to order more... and then eventually asked the bar man where they kept it so we could fetch ourselves. Fillet arrived, dried out and tasting like gas. Sent it back just to get another dried piece of meat. Starter hake was the worst quality fish full of bones with no flavor. Sent it back without eating it. We eventually pored our glasses back into the bottle and left without eating anything. Was interested in the wine pairing evenings.. but certainly won't be attending any longer. This was the worst experience in a restaurant yet.

The table we chose was unfortunately not set completely. Some of the cutlery was missing, no lamp, no salt and pepper, one champagne glass brought, the another odd one, then a third one, also different. We had to ask for the missing items to be brought, which took some time. Previous occasions at Hemmingway was superb - maybe we were expecting too much. Will consider once more, but if the service is of the same quality.............. The second dessert made up for the above!!

Good day, There are two reasons why my rating isn’t positive: 1) My wife became very ill shortly after leaving you restaurant - she had the Sole. 2) A large amount of items which we ordered was out of stock: No draught Beer Bottled beer - only castle light was available but we were only advised of this after our third option wasn’t available Jameson was sold out Rump was sold out Kingklip also sold out At one point, our guests asked if the restaurant is closing down and if that could be the reason why so many items aren’t stock. Even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all we waited extremely long for everything.
