Being nice, humble, and gracious will take you far.

Our story begins with Amy Gardiner. Amy’s first visit to SA through a high school exchange programme ignited a deep love for the country. Young and endlessly curious, she would come back two more times before laying down new foundations in the vibrant city of Durban. Back in her native Scotland, Amy had worked as a barista in a small café down the road from where she stayed. When she moved to Durban her journey with coffee continued, initially working a part-time gig at a well-known coffee spot. But Amy, a serial risk taker with a craving for more, spent countless days and nights researching the South African coffee landscape. Amy saw a gap and determined, she stashed up enough to buy her own coffee roaster - and that’s where the magic truly began!

Initially, the plan was simple – coffee with a straightforward menu featuring classics like avocado toast and toasties. But Amy had a knack for listening to what people desired and gradually, the menu blossomed. With coffee in hand and a menu unlike no other, Humble Coffee was born!

    Scrambled eggs on sourdough was lack lustre. Cappuccino was weak n milky. I also didn't like that one had to go to the counter and pay fir your meal first and if u want tip them before you even experience the food or service. Not my cup of coffee.

    As a vegan, it was truly a spoil to have so many options to choose from beyond the standard smashed avo, french fries or falafel wrap we encounter 9/10 times when trying to eat out. We had the Pancake Stack and Vegan Toastie for breakfast and were even more spoilt with takeaway vegan Chocolate Cake, Tahini Blondie and Crunchie for tea later on. Everything was absolutely delicious and made our hearts and tummies so insanely happy. 10/10 Humble Coffee!!!!! We will definitely be back and will share our experience with the wider Vegan community every chance we get. 💚
