Set in a converted house in central Franschhoek, the atmosphere at Le Bon Vivant is homely and relaxed, while reminiscent of contemporary French restaurants. The glass wall allows you to see Pierre Hendriks and his team at work. Tables are also available in the shaded garden next to the restaurant for lunch and dinner on warm summer evenings.

    We were overcharged by circa 50% which after I challenged the incorrect bill the waitress quickly amended the error. However, I would have normally expected that a waitress would check this type of simple error when it was clearly evident we had been charged for 2 main courses per person which should have alerted them to an obvious error. However to be fair I think the waitress was fairly new so I genuinely believe it was an accidental error. It would have been nice if she had apologised when she brought us the corrected bill but perhaps she was embarrassed about the error. I visited the same restaurant two days earlier and I couldn’t fault it with either the quality of the food or the excellent service.

    An exceptional restaurant which never fails to deliver. The welcome was warm and the food excellent. Just wish we lived nearer than the UK to visit on a regular basis. Thank you Pierre and team for everything.

    One of the very few restaurants in Franschhoek that hasn't changed over the years. Which makes it a great rarity but also reflects its continuing quality. The blesbok was outstanding!
