A passionate restaurant on Cape Town’s Waterfront: Our Story

Marble was initially founded by Gary Kyriacou and David Higgs at the Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Now, Marble Restaurant Cape Town brings the zeal for fire-driven cuisine and local flavours to the Mother City in the Waterfront.

Created to celebrate cooking with fire in all its glory and simplicity, Marble offers flame-inspired cuisine that champions South African culture and flavours. Boasting a grand wood-fired grill imported from Grill Works in Michigan at its heart, Marble is a celebration of the vibrant flavours, colours, and textures brought about with flame cooking.

The concept combines the open-fire trend, seen internationally, with a pinch of true South African flair. We have long been fascinated by what makes South African cuisine unique, and we believe it’s down to being meat and flame enthusiasts. It is the time-worn ritual of cooking on wood fires and gathering with friends, the shared experience in the preparation. And it is not just meat that we celebrate in this way, we boast an array of fresh ingredients all cooked on our perfectly prepared coals including fish, poultry, vegetables and breads.

We travelled all the way from up the West Coast to enjoy a day out with good food and good Restuarant. Unfortunately the meal did not equal the service and ambiance and found the starter almost inedible and tasteless with the main (Rib Eye steak) tough just as disappointing. Did not bother to stay for dessert. Bumped into friends of ours from up the coast and they reported a similar experience and both couples decided that we would not be returning unfortunately. Sorry Marble

The Restaurant Week menu was incredibly good value for money. Food was outstanding, especially the main course - sea bass, cooked to perfection.

We have enjoyed Marble in the evening and wanted to come back for lunch. The only reason for giving a 4 for service was because of the Sommelier. Jimmy our waiter was great and five star. We order the Groote Post Chardonnay through Jimmy and the Sommelier came and asked us if we had chosen the wine from the menu. We had to show him. As a sommelier, you should know your wines 100%. Otherwise it was great. Food was good but nothing really stood out. We will come back and try a few more dishes and definitely return in the evening when there is a better ambience.
