The wines are handpicked and vinified with minimal intervention using traditional techniques such as foot stomping, whole bunch, and whole berry fermentation. Minimalist Wines is all about Sam’s fascination with minimal intervention and letting each vineyard tell its own unique story. It is about focusing on varietals he loves, treating them gently in the cellar, and then allowing nature to shine, rather than delivering formulaic wines each vintage. His passion is Syrah.

    Unbelievably interesting, great to have a real insight into the workings of this boutique winery. Henry was just a warm, open person. This is a fabulous experience - highly recommended!

    We are big fans of wine and we have been fortunate to visit many wine farms in the Western Cape. I had never been to an urban wine tasting, so we decided to do something different and went to Minimalist Wines. The name is a hint. They only make 3 Syrah wines. We were personally assisted by Sam, the owner and wine maker. His passion for his wines is notable. He showed us the cellar followed by the tasting. He shared his future plans with us. We hold thumbs that his plans come to fruition. Give them a try. You won't be sorry.

    A wonderful morning spent with Henry. After showing us around we had a wine tasting that was more informative than I have ever experienced. Henry was really interesting and his passion for great wine making was inspiring. Thanks Henry.
