    Had the seafood pasta and Bisteca pizza - both excellent. Starters caprese (different to the traditional fresh tomato one) and beetroot salmon was good but the mains came out tops. Service and ambience was great - food bill came to 1400 for 2 people including drinks, starters, mains and service charge. Great value given the awesome experience. Will definitely go back again for that seafood pasta and pizza anytime!

    Modena remains my favourite restaurant in johannesburg. I am yet to have a single bad experience with the food. I love exploring the menu, and my curiosity has always been met with amazing food experience. While I have always enjoyed the hospitality of the staff (they have attended to my needs with utmost care), last night my waiter seemed a bit aloof,but still efficient-the implication was that he forgot the complimentary birthday dessert the restaurant had included on my booking. The manager swift sent someone after us,and invited us back to the restaurant with a big apology, and a gigantic slice of cake to make up for her staff’s oversight. I mean we were not going to make a fuss about it,but gestures like this are why I would continue to rank them highly at Modena and recommend them highly to friends visiting Johannesburg.Thank you for your world class hospitality.

    Back of the restaurant not as nice as previous seating. They add an automatic 10% service fee which I assumed went to waitress but Veronica said it didn’t so I ended up paying a 20% tip so she’d get something which felt like a rip off
