Step into the world of Nobu with acclaimed global chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s only outpost in southern Africa.

Nobu Cape Town brings classic Japanese cuisine with a Peruvian twist in a sophisticated space which seamlessly blends Japanese wa with the spirit of Ubuntu. Descend the stairs and be welcomed by cinematic views of Table Mountain into the main dining room anchored by handwoven tapestries by local artist, Julia Pepler Swanepoel.

To the left of the staircase, Nobu Bar stretches into an alluring intimate speakeasy-like enclave ideal for pre and post dinner cocktails crafted by our expert mixologists.

A total rip-off. I ordered a glass of bubbly which was only half filled, the tuna tataki was delicious but consisted only of 6 slices of tuna and as a main the springbok, slightly tough. Paid R1.700 and was so hungry afterwards. My friend ordered sashimi (OK) and the squid (chewy). Not worth to eat there.

At the risk of sounding like a complete grump our experience was disappointing. It wasn’t exceptional; it wasn’t even out of the ordinary which made it feel overpriced and lacking substance. Our food arrived rather randomly and so quickly I asked our server to slow it down. At one point we were shuffling plates and glasses to make room on the table. We chose Nobu to close out a fantastic couple of days in Cape Town during which we had some of the best steak and oysters we’ve ever had. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a match for the other restaurants & we will remember it for all the wrong reasons.
