Sushi legend Hatsushiro Muraoka, fondly known as Papa San, joined forces with chef-partner Ben Bettendorf to open Obi on Long Street. We reported in May that the two saw Obi as an opportunity to showcase the clean flavours of Japanese cuisine, and this they do here with simplicity and skill.

    Food is yum. Service is good. I like the whole experience I just don’t love the lunchtime hours. Sometimes getting to a restaurant for a lunch before 2pm cos that’s when the kitchen closes is a bit rushed for me. Even 2.30 would be an option? Just saying…
