Ōku Asian Eatery is a Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant situated on Franschhoek’s main road.

The restaurant interior is inspired by the minimalistic design popular in the traditional Asian culture with delicate artwork and unique bonsai trees decorating the walls of the restaurant.

The team guided by Ryan Shell has created an ever-evolving menu that showcases traditional Asian-themed tones in a respectful manner whilst using high-quality local and seasonal produce. Our passionate front-of-house team is driven to deliver excellence in all aspects of service whilst displaying empathy for all of our guests by attending to their needs and desires.

Our wine list is focused on local wineries from in and around the valley as well as a selection of cocktails and sakes, including our own house brand beer-styled sakes.

The dining experience is completed with instrumental music that evokes a sense of calmness in our guests that enables them to unwind and relax.

    The food and wine pairing was absolutely incredible, but the service from Lefa was next level! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Franschhoek.

    The food and ambience are good. Staff friendly and professional. The whole process is however unnecessarily overcomplicated, particularly at lunchtime, and the service laborious. Sometimes you just want to enjoy what is presented without a long winded explanation. We only received our first order an hour after arriving which is very slow for lunchtime. We've been a number of times but this was disappointing and I cannot help but feel that the restaurant is slightly out of touch...

    Loved the food and appreciated that the accommodated dietary restrictions. Would only say the mosaic sashimi was disappointing compared to the overall quality and price point of the food.

    The food and the experience is very good. The waiters are very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. I however feel that the price for the fixed menu does not give value for money

    Beautifully presented and interesting food. The flavours were amazing! Great service. Only negative were the spot lights in the 2nd half of the restaurant were very bright (we were not the only diners to comment on this). Fabulous evening overall though!
