Ōku Asian Eatery is a Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant situated on Franschhoek’s main road.

The restaurant interior is inspired by the minimalistic design popular in the traditional Asian culture with delicate artwork and unique bonsai trees decorating the walls of the restaurant.

The team guided by Ryan Shell has created an ever-evolving menu that showcases traditional Asian-themed tones in a respectful manner whilst using high-quality local and seasonal produce. Our passionate front-of-house team is driven to deliver excellence in all aspects of service whilst displaying empathy for all of our guests by attending to their needs and desires.

Our wine list is focused on local wineries from in and around the valley as well as a selection of cocktails and sakes, including our own house brand beer-styled sakes.

The dining experience is completed with instrumental music that evokes a sense of calmness in our guests that enables them to unwind and relax.

    Dining at Oku is less a meal and more a curated experience that lingers long after the final course. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is refined, intimate, and quietly confident. The team are incredibly welcoming and warm. The menu showcases a masterful fusion of Asian-inspired flavours, with each dish beautifully presented and thoughtfully balanced. Oku truly shines in its flavour, with bold, umami-rich elements meeting subtle, unexpected combinations that feel comforting and exciting. Every bite contributes to a story of creativity and craftsmanship. The service is attentive yet unobtrusive, with knowledgeable staff enhancing the experience through genuine guidance.     Booked here for my partner's birthday with his family. It was all very delicious and such a good experience. The only downside, the service was great to start the night off, but then eventually it felt like we were being neglected by our waiter. It didn't ruin our night because we had the best company! But would've been liked to be spoiled especially for my partner's sake!
