Old Town, the very word, evokes a sense of history and a portal back to a time when life itself was defined by a seemingly more romantic set of values.

There was a time when a visit to your local grocery store was more of a social event than a chore. Where the butcher knew your preferences and the baker greeted you by name. A place where product knowledge, a hearty smile and sound advice was given freely. Old Town’s mission is to restore these qualities and rekindle those experiences.

    I had a Caesar salad and added bacon and chicken, I asked for no anchovies but the dressing was very bland. Portion very small too, service was slow too. Pity as the setting is lovely

    I had chosen this restaurant to celebrate my niece’s 21st birthday, as I’ve dined here before and always enjoyed both the food and the service. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite of my previous experiences, and we left extremely disappointed. The service was inattentive – the wait staff were absent most of the time, and we repeatedly had to go looking for someone to ask about our orders, which took far too long to arrive with no explanation. When the food eventually came, it was underwhelming. One of the vegetarian main courses was so small it could have been a kids’ meal, which we raised with the manager. Sadly, the response we received was dismissive: “well, that’s the way it is,” with no attempt to offer a solution. In the past, I’ve raved about the cheesecake, but this time it was a real let-down. The pastry was heavy, tasting slightly undercooked, and thicker than the actual filling. Even the small detail of bringing out the birthday dessert with a sparkler fell flat – the sparkler had already burnt out by the time it reached the table. What should have been a special evening felt dull and disappointing, with lacklustre service, average food, and no effort to create a warm atmosphere. It’s such a pity, as I know this restaurant can do much better – but on this occasion, they simply did not seem interested in being of service at all.

    I ran a lodge and team build venue for a very long time and a groups from sweden once wrote in our guestbook that the answer is always yes at their venue and then they enquire so what was the question and they said that that was above service. I think that is the epitome of old town Italy. I love this place and the delicious food and the attention to detail and the staff are amazing too. Excellent family restaurant and the live entertainment is awesome especially @heycoco
