The Olive Terrace Bistro offers à la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. The bistro has cosy fireplaces for winter, and a beautiful terrace and courtyard for summer al fresco dining.

Our emphasis is on sourcing local fresh seasonal produce, this means that our menu changes seasonally, and is an eclectic celebration of South African and international cuisine, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

    We enjoyed a lovely dining experience following a wine tasting at a local vineyard. The Tulbagh Hotel is well located and offers a lovely setting under a lush Oak. The staff were professional and friendly. The buffet lunch was tasty and homely, matched with a smooth Rijk’s Pinotage Reserve. A most memorable dining experience! We’ll be back😉.

    We’ve made a point of visiting this restaurant every time we come to Tulbagh, which is why this last experience was particularly disappointing. It’s always been one of our favourites, but unfortunately the service seems to be slipping a bit. This time, the letdown started right at the beginning. My husband was really looking forward to the Sunday roast. When booking through Dineplan, there’s no option to select or reserve the roast, so we assumed it would be available as usual. When we arrived, the gentleman who assisted us even mentioned that the roast was lamb, which naturally confirmed our expectation that it was still on offer. However, after waiting a while for menus and eventually placing our order, my husband was then told that they had run out of the roast. Needless to say, it was incredibly disappointing — especially since it had already been mentioned to us on arrival. It just felt like a lack of communication and organisation, which took away from what we’ve always known to be a great experience. We’ll still come back, but we really hope to see them tighten things up again.

    They have best carvery and pizza. The staff is helpful and friendly.

    We had lunch here. My husband enjoyed a pizza and I had the PadThai rice noodles with prawns & chicken and fragrant green herbs. Paired with a refreshing rosé. It’s a lovely setting but noisy with the trucks & cars and annoying hooting taxis, a pity.

    Had a lovely evening at the hotel and enjoyed some nice steak. Perfectly cooked and you get the option of getting two sides. Excellent value for money. Experience topped off with friendly staff and good service.
