    I loved the fried gnocchi starter and the watermelon mojito. The service was excellent, thank you Boniswa for bringing a knife and plates for our cake without being asked! Would love it if they went back to normal chips instead of skinny fries, which get cold quickly.

    On the night my family and I booked to eat at the restaurant, the hotel was hosting a wedding function. The venue does not have sufficient parking space and the available parking was used for the wedding. We had to park around the block (and pay for parking). Service started out good, and the starters were good. We however waited for over an hour for our main course, with some dishes being overcooked. There was a 30 min wait between the first main course dishes that came out and the rest of the group’s, which is unacceptable for a decent establishment. Ambience of the restaurant could also be improved, lighting it too bright and white.

    If you are expecting a five-star experience, you will not find it at the Monarch Hotel. There was nothing about our experience that reflected five-star hospitality standards. From the lack of greeting and assistance upon arrival, to poor service throughout the restaurant, the experience felt closer to a two-star establishment than a luxury hotel. The Father’s Day décor was beautiful, and the food was absolutely outstanding—easily 10/10. However, exceptional food alone cannot make up for poor service and operational shortcomings. While the culinary team deserves recognition, the overall guest experience was disappointing. Unfortunately, we would not return, and I would not recommend the Monarch Hotel to anyone expecting a genuine five-star experience.

    It was our anniversary. We booked online. When we arrived there was no staff to welcome or seat us. We stood waiting in the restaurant. Then a lady came from the kitchen n told us where to sit by pointing to a table. We were about to sit down and told her that the table was dirty. She said sit anywhere. But most tables were not set. She said she just had a function so they busy setting up. She looked exhausted. We asked if we going to get proper service because it’s our anniversary and did not want to spoil our night. She repeated they just had a function at the restaurant and nodded her head when we left. First time there and it was not a good experience

    Food was honestly the worst I have ever eaten. The steak 🥩 gross! And damn expensive ! 1/5 is overrated! You need to be in the minus !

    Amazing dinner and pleasant attitude from all staff. Would definitely go here again. I think the table cloths could do with an upgrade though.
