Excellent service staff (Chelsea looked after us), very attentive & friendly. Outstanding Sunday roast 3 course meal. The starters were exceptionally more’ish. We were initially seated outside but they moved us indoors as it was very windy outdoors. Great experience, highly recommended.

We were really pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem so close to us. Our lunch was excellent. The food is a happy medium between fine dining and upmarket dining. Not overly fussy and no theatricals but beautifully prepared and presented. The service was excellent. Our waiter, Ibrahaam was attentive but not overbearing. The venue reminds of Sir Herbert Baker architecture. Like a mini Hohenhort. Very nice indeed and a wonderful venue for a family gathering of different generations 🤩 We’ll definitely be back and we want to try the Health Spa and High Tea.

Our first time there, service was friendly but drinks took a long time as did our food. It was their Fri night steak night and our Picanha steaks were very well cooked and tasty although not hot enough and the sides (a cauli gratin and some roasted veg) were on the raw side of al dente. It was a cold windy evening and it was rather cold and draughty in the restaurant due to the doors to the outside being open to serve the people on the terrace. Nice but probably wouldn't go back.

The location is lovely and the service was friendly- thanks, Emmanuel and Mdu (?). (although on location- the low marquee feels a bit claustrophobic and dark in summer and also the brass and red ropes detract from the venue as it adds a casino-like tacky feel to the restaurant. They should be removed and another way found to cordon off the space) Sadly, the Spring menu is just 'trying too hard'. The line fish was bland but too much fussiness with the additions of olives and red onion. The summer tartlets were also bland and a strange combination of ingredients. The base felt like one was eating a dessert so not a good pairing with pea and creme fraiche. The crudo was good, however. Given the heat, a simple menu with less fuss would be in order.

Palm Terrace at Palm House responded on Tue 11 Nov 25:
Dear Judith, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are delighted that you enjoyed the setting and that Emmanuel and Bheki were able to look after you so warmly. We also appreciate your comments regarding the marquee and cordoning. As the weather continues to warm, the marquee will be coming down in the next few weeks so guests can enjoy the full alfresco experience for the summer season. Your feedback will certainly be considered as we refine the space. Regarding the menu, our Spring dishes were created with a focus on balance, seasonality, and lightness for the warmer months. Many of the items you mentioned are among our most enjoyed dishes, and while your experience differed from the general guest feedback, we truly value your perspective and will keep it in mind as we continue to evolve the menu as the season changes. To offer some clarity, our Pea and Asparagus Tart is made with a savoury pâte brisée base and paired with house-made labneh rather than crème fraîche. This is intended to create a fresh, gently acidic profile rather than anything sweet. For the line fish, we season and cook it in our coal-fired oven to ensure a clean, natural flavour. The potatoes, onions, and olives contribute natural salinity, while the tomatoes add the acidity needed to balance the dish. That said, we always provide salt and pepper on the table for guests who prefer a little extra seasoning to suit their personal palate. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. We genuinely appreciate it, and it forms an important part of how we continue improving the experience at Palm Terrace. We hope to welcome you back again soon. Kind Regards Gregory Henderson Executive Chef
