Paserene is a small, family operated winery owned by Martin Smith and Ndabe Mareda, the sole purpose of which is to produce high-end, luxury wines. Great care was given to ensure that the wines produced, and artwork on the labels, are truly authentic to its “sense of place and people” and will guarantee a lasting legacy.

The name Paserene comes from the Latin word Passeriformes, the order of "traveling and free" birds containing swifts and swallows. Paserene is situated in the quaint town of Franschhoek and is home to their award-winning wine range. A professional and contemporary tasting lounge is situated on the property.

    This was my dream to visit his winery and they provide exactly what I imagined which was beyond wonderful.

    Service was very slow. There appeared to be not enough staff doing the wine tasting and Eric was doing his best to cover several tables at the same time. More staff required.

    We had a great time at Paserene, I wish they could offer proper food like pizza at least since they’re already offering bread

As we are a wine tasting room rather than a traditional restaurant, our menu is thoughtfully curated to offer small bites that pair well with our wines. We encourage our guests to create their own platter by selecting from a variety of options, including charcuterie, cheeses, pâté, bitterballen, and other items.
