Pear Tree was established in May 2015 opening its doors in July 2015 after major renovations took place. The name originated from the owner Petri Hendriksz, who worked in the UK for a few years. His colleagues called him Pear Tree as they could not pronounce his first name – hence Pear Tree Bistro was born. Pear Tree, situated on the Piazza of Hermanus, offers a modern bistro feel with creative and tasteful dishes offering a scenic view with outside seating. This intimate bistro offers a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere making you at home. Local produce, Local Beers and Local Wines.

    Being able to choose several different small plates is great as you can then sample a bunch of the delicious (and healthy) meals.

    We walked into a buzzing Pear Trea, on their vegan night. The place was alive with high energy and excited guests, I knew we were in for a treat. My companion and I were a few minutes late but we were made to feel welcome the second we stepped out of the pouring rain and into a warm and cozy space. The small restaurant is adorned with all kinds of "eye amusements" and filled with nose-piercing aromas, whispering secrets of a special night to come. Our waiter, Samma, greeted us with friendly eyes and a beautifully spiced Sangria, created by the resident sommelier, Jono, who would later beguile us with more of these exceptional liquid offerings. A personal appearance by, and a couple of words of welcome from the owner, Petri, set the tone to a magical evening, one of adventure, alchemy and adoration. Thought provoking presentations of precisely prepared and pleasure-providing plates, created by head chef Wander Berster, persistently made their way to our table, with elegance and panache. Time flew by and before we knew it, five delicious cources had been served. Hats off to a team of innovators and inebriators, aficionados and connoisseurs. Steven Taylor
