Pear Tree Restaurant in Hermanus was established in 2015 and has become a firm favourite of visitors and locals alike. With a focus on fresh, modern dishes and a wide range of dishes on the menu including many seafood, vegetarian and vegan options, Pear Tree offers casual dining with food that surpasses expectations.

Located on the Village Square in the heart of Hermanus, you can enjoy the warm ambience of the restaurant’s interior, or enjoy the sea air and beautiful views over Walker Bay at our alfresco tables.

    Booked ahead but were offered only one table among many reserved. Was by the main door on a very windy day so not suitable. Despite many unoccupied other reserved tables were only moved reluctantly to one nearby with similar discomfort. Why could we not have had the choice of any unoccupied table? No explanation. Greeter was obviously unwilling to change her precious order sheet. Food was at best average. Fairly expensive compared to other similar basic eateries nearby. No atmosphere. Might be better outside on a warm summer evening. Altogether hard to recommend.

As a small eatery with very limited space, our team works carefully with a pre-planned seating chart to ensure we can honour all bookings and avoid disappointing guests who arrive after you. This can make it challenging at times to move bookings around freely, even when tables appear unoccupied in the moment. That said, you should have received a clear explanation and felt supported in finding the most comfortable option available, and we apologise that this wasn’t your experience on the day. We also regret that your meal and the atmosphere fell short of what we pride ourselves on. Your comments have been shared with both our kitchen and front-of-house teams so we can review and improve. We hope you might consider giving us another tr,perhaps on a warm summer evening when our outdoor area truly shines. We’d love the chance to provide the experience Pear Tree is known for.     A wonderful restaurant. Definitely worth the accolades. We enjoyed our meal very much (one of the best on our holiday through the Western Cape). The Pear Panna Cotta is delicious aswell as clever!

    The food was amazing. However, the service was not. They made us feel like our questions were difficult. Moreover, with the reservation we shared the fact that it was my birthday, which they confirmed upon entry. Thereafter, they didn’t do anything with it and forgot about it 100%!
