In the early 1940s, wine farmers in the Perdeberg region grew dissatisfied with the low prices they were getting for their premium quality grapes. Then an astute farmer named Jan Rossouw suggested they begin producing their own wine and Perdeberg Cellar was born! We pressed our first grapes manually in 1942 and while we have come a long way in terms of technology, we are still renowned for our hands-on approach!

The venue was surprisingly big and beautiful. We ordered a picnic basket do 2 and loved it. We could not finish the platter so my suggestion is that you need to take a Tupperware for leftovers. The best part of the day was the quality of wine. I have never been to Perdeberg and did not know that the area was known as the Chenin Blanc (Steen) Valley - more marketing will boost tourism. Their Dryland flagship range was superb emphasis on the wooded Chenin Blanc, ofcoarse, and the Pinotage! Big thanx to Terence and the rest of the awesome servers who made the visit memorable!
