Ramenhead is Cape Town's destination for authentic ramen with silky freshly-made noodles, umami-rich broth simmered for 48 hours, and sake served in brimful glasses. The restaurant has imported the only Yamato noodle machine in Africa, producing all noodles in-house, making it a genuinely one-of-a-kind proposition.

The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Julia du Toit with guidance from FYN Group's chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss, taking its cue from ramen shops in Japan. Authentic techniques and carefully-selected ingredients extend beyond the bowls: the menu features Japanese street food including okonomiyaki fries and chicken karaage, while the bar offers award-winning cocktails, local and imported beers, and sake served from traditional masu cups.

The atmosphere is casual and edgy, with live music every Thursday. Happy hour runs weekdays from 17:00 to 19:00 with 50% off all small plates and selected cocktails.

Hard to fault Ramenhead. The food is always delicious, and last night's meal was no exception. Karaage and Cabbage salad to start, and the new Lamb Tantanmen bowl to follow. My friend, who absolutely knows his stuff, rated his Wagyu ramen as 'the best ramen I have ever had'. Thanks, as always.

Our dinner experience was excellent, but our waiter deserves all the praise. He is one of the best waiters I have ever had. He was accommodating, friendly, and extremely helpful. He knew the menu and could help with all questions.

Ramenhead never ceases to delight! The cocktails are an art-form, the small-plates delicious, and the ramen the most authentic you'll find this side of Japan! Excellent service as always. Music could have been a bit softer, but otherwise a great night out.

The music was unpleasant and not ambient as it should be. It was more in keeping with a rave. The ramen was really disappointing, all three of us had one or two mouth fulls and left our food, this should have signalled to a manager that we were not entirely happy with our meals. The broth tasted bland, the noodles were undercooked and tasted of flour. We have eaten here previously and were blown away by the quality of the ramen. This time was completely different and the food was below average,
