    Read of couple of the 3/2 star comments and thought o’dear… I honestly think it’s other restaurants trying to drive down the ratings of other restaurants, consistently 5 stars then bang… a low mark. Doesn’t make any sense. Especially when my family and I had the MOST incredible experience/food and drinks we’ve ever had in CT. All the big names in fine dining are of course amazing, we have some of the best restaurants in the world here, we really do. But for us, last night’s meal was special, it was Michelin star level flavour, texture and plating, without too much fluff. Keep doing what you’re doing guys, F@&CK the hatters, they see the competition, and it’s dangerous. Well done, we’ll be back.

    We were really excited to get a chance to try RIKU. When a friend first sent me a post about it from Instagram, I booked immediately for my partner's birthday weekend. On the day, they contacted me by WhatsApp asking if it would be ok for us to change from 8:30 to 6:00 due to the fact that the other diners for 8:30 had cancelled due to a bug! Totally acceptable and professional! We switched and dined with two other for a total of 4 at this 12-seater restaurant. We started off with some cocktails which were not listed on the menu (which had evidently just undergone a change but was not yet printed!) The cocktails were pretty bad - they tasted a bit like they could fuel my car! This was our first impression. Then the food! The food was BEAUTIFUL with stunning presentation, but very unfortunately, the flavours didn't really work or go together. There was a squid dish, for example...the squid was tasty, and the sauce (a yellow pepper of sorts) was tasty...but the sauce overpowered the squid. Almost every dish was MEH when it came to flavour. In a place like this, the food needs to WOW you, and there should be more theatrics. The choice of 90's Hip Hop music was a bit odd to say the least, and we left feeling quite disappointed. Even the menus had typos on them. For example, the name of one of the wines on the very short wine last was mispelled!! Winshaw not Windshaw!!

    Interestingly enough… we pay little attention to these kind of reviews as it makes no sense when the rest are consistently over 4.8. We just except that some things just aren’t for you :) Have a lovely day.

    The experience at RIKŪ was truly exceptional. It stands out as the sole destination in South Africa where diners can engage in intimate conversations with the exceptionally skilled chefs while seated directly across from them in an intimate and intense setting.
