Welcome to Room 32 where the story of food begins, and lingers long after the last bite.

At the heart of our kitchen is a reverence for South Africa’s abundant natural pantry. From sun-kissed farms and bursting docks to the quiet generosity of our indigenous forest, every ingredient we select comes with a memory of place, of people, of time. This is food rooted in respect, and lifted by imagination – from desert, dock, and forest to fork.

Our menu is a journey through South Africa’s rich culinary heritage; reinterpreted with modern finesse. Expect flavours that honour tradition while embracing discovery.

Each dish is crafted with care, layered in flavour, thoughtful in texture and grounded in the essence of the land. You may taste the tang of coastal seaweed beside wild-caught fish or the gentle smokiness of heirloom grains paired with foraged greens. Every plate tells a story, and every story begins with connection.

Our beverage program is curated to echo this philosophy. Wines are carefully selected, drawn from winemakers and vineyards that understand the land as intimately as we do. Mocktails, spirits and signature cocktails are stirred and shaken with purpose, balancing bold South African botanicals with refined global techniques.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 – Beautiful setting, decent food, but overpriced and slightly overbearing The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with elegant décor and a beautiful outdoor setting that makes a great first impression. The dishes were plated beautifully and were generally enjoyable, but for the prices charged, I expected more depth of flavour and a more memorable overall experience. A notable disappointment was the red wine service. The wine was nowhere near the recommended 16°C serving temperature, and it had to be placed in an ice bucket to cool down. For an establishment of this calibre, one would expect a proper wine fridge and correct wine service as a standard. Another point that became uncomfortable was how many different staff members came to ask how the food was — four in total. The intention may have been good, but it felt intrusive rather than attentive, especially during a dinner meant to be relaxed and uninterrupted. Overall, the setting is lovely and the food is decent, but the pricing feels high, the wine service needs attention, and the overly frequent check-ins from staff were a bit much.

    I have only ever received such exceptional service in Europe. The entire experience was remarkable, from the teams’ interaction at the gate to the concierge, waiters, chef and management. The level of service was impeccable.
