At the heart of our kitchen is a reverence for South Africa’s abundant natural pantry. From sun-kissed farms and bustling docks to the quiet generosity of our indigenous forests, every ingredient we select carries a memory of place, of people, of time. This is food rooted in respect and lifted by imagination from desert, dock, and forest to fork.

Our menu is an exploration of South Africa’s rich culinary heritage, reinterpreted with modern finesse. Expect flavours that honour tradition while embracing discovery.

Each dish is crafted with care, layered in flavour, thoughtful in texture, and grounded in the essence of the land. You may taste the tang of coastal seaweed beside wild-caught fish, or the gentle smokiness of heirloom grains paired with foraged greens. Every plate tells a story, and every story begins with connection.

Beyond the table, Room 32 comes alive through spectator-high teas , an elevated, social ritual where guests gather, observe, and indulge in finely crafted savouries, patisserie, and teas served with theatre and style. Our lively brunches bring a more spirited rhythm to the space, pairing bold flavours with an easy sense of celebration, music, and shared moments.

Our beverage program echoes this philosophy. Wines are carefully selected from winemakers and vineyards that understand the land as intimately as we do. Mocktails, spirits, and signature cocktails are stirred and shaken with purpose ,balancing bold South African botanicals with refined global techniques.

    A lot went wrong. 1) Park Hyatt did not have my booking - it took some time to be let onto the premises, 2) Overhearing a staff member moaning about not being able to cope as there were only three of them to serve guests 3) Mr Manager Wine expert gave great attention to recommending a particular bottle of white wine.... 15 minutes later - sorry we are out of stock 4) My client wanted a particular dish off the menu - sorry we do not have stock of this 5) Sprite Zero - sorry we do not have stock 6) 2 of my guests ordered a particular dish and only after we had all eaten did the waitress bring the "broth" to pour over one of the dishes 6) Management had no proof of payment or the actual booking through Dineplan and refused to take the deposit into consideration re the bill (almost R4K for 4 people), "sorry not our fault but our service provider, i.e. Dineplan" - took many phone calls and interventions (even though I had proof on whatsapp and emails with Charmaine - 15 minutes to resolve. Truly disappointing particularly that I had created a different expectation with my guests.
