The Root44 Wine emporium, located on the first-floor, hosts offerings for the cultured person with a keen interest in wine, art, and good food. Surrounded by a well-designed structure and stylish interior, it boasts an art gallery, sport’s bar, oyster bar, coffee shop, restaurant and a wine shop and tasting room that showcases local wines and gives guests a tasting experience of an array of Stellenbosch wines. The wine shop is inspired by a journey of discovery through the wine route of Stellenbosch.

    I had a wonderful time at Root44. The meals alone - it is amazing and affordable! The staff is extremely friendly and I felt really welcomed. Root44 will definitely see me again because there you’ll get amazing food with a breathtaking view! 😍😍

    I am extremely disheartened and disappointed at the service I received last night. We were assigned 3 waiters but it didn’t feel like it. I had to consistently remind them that my guests were ready to order their drinks and even walk up to the them. I don’t even want to mention the food saga. My friends and I placed our orders, went outside to take pictures (we’re girls so you can imagine how long this took). We came back and the food had not yet arrived so we went outside again to take more pictures. We came back again. I expressed my disappointment to the waiter and he said that’s because we were not at the table, which was very irritating and I felt like it was gaslighting because there were so many adults left at the table. If the food was really ready, I know my mom would’ve called me. Speaking of my mom, her food arrived after most people had already eaten. Overall? I am beyond upset because I made this reservation weeks ago so hearing excuses like “you guys are a big group” when I expressed my frustrations wasn’t cutting it for me. Trust me when I say that even that one star is me being generous. The food was good but who cares when the service isn’t? The only thing that made it up for me were my guests but they were not treated well

We apologise for this, however even though you made your booking ages ago, this will not have an effect if the restaurant is busy, and we clearly fell short in managing your table and communication properly. Your concerns about delayed service, miscommunication regarding food readiness, and inconsistent attention from the assigned waiters are valid, and we are truly sorry for the frustration it caused on your special evening. This will be addressed with our team to ensure it does not happen again. We appreciate you highlighting the quality of the food, but we understand that good service is just as important.
