The Root44 Wine emporium, located on the first-floor, hosts offerings for the cultured person with a keen interest in wine, art, and good food. Surrounded by a well-designed structure and stylish interior, it boasts an art gallery, sport’s bar, oyster bar, coffee shop, restaurant and a wine shop and tasting room that showcases local wines and gives guests a tasting experience of an array of Stellenbosch wines. The wine shop is inspired by a journey of discovery through the wine route of Stellenbosch.

    Our waiter did not really pay attention to us. Our orders were not what we ordered. We ordered steaks and most over them were over cooked as opposed to being medium. It was the best 1st experience and it was to celebrate my son’s confirmation.

    Root44 was a very good choice with good standards and very neat. The food was tops and I would make use of the service again and also highly recommendable. Thank you very much for the communication before hand and great service. The place is very beautiful with a good atmosphere.

    We were a small group who visited the Root 44 restaurant on Friday 23 Jan 2026 - we truly enjoyed the Pizza special that is surely superb 👌value for money - Our waitress was Professional, friendly and we can only thank her for the excellent service provided . I was personally very impressed with the following: Approximately 3 months ago a friend and I visited the restaurant, my friend was visiting from Dubai and on this occasion I forgot my scarf ( it was a black and white Palestinian scarf ) ,on my chair at the restaurant. I only realized only once I got home that day that I forgot it there . When we visited Friday evening- I just shared with the waitress the above and she said they have a lost and found box and that she will go and have look - I was warmly surprised when she brought the scarf to our table - Thank you Root 44 staff - you are the Best .
