The staff are very pleasant and friendly and happily answered question about the menu. Some meals tasted amazing and looked stunning too. However, the presentation of e.g. the sandwiches a couple of people ordered looked very plain in comparison as they were served on a tiny side plate with no garnish or even a couple of chips. Initially, we were a bit disappointed that the restaurant had moved and no longer had a view. I had booked a few weeks prior from KZN to catch up with friends and family while in CT while enjoying a meal - there was nothing mentioned re the relocation on the website and our view was a parking lot.

The food is overpriced for the area. The veggie burger is pricier than the beef burger and no vegan roll is offered so it rules out almost all the meals if you want Non dairy, no egg food. Only the risotto is convertible and it’s expensive for what it is, and not something I’d go back for unfortunately. Somewhat disappointed as it’s a nice place overall

Salt & Sage Blouberg responded on Thu 06 Nov 25:
Hi Eva i'm sorry you were not happy with your food unfortunately we are not a Vegan restaurant and try to accommodate where we can, as you can imagine vegan ingredients are a lot more pricey and also expire a lot faster so it does not make sense to keep a lot on site as it ends up just costing us unnecessary money and high wastage. The Vegan rolls we did not get in yet from our supplier as yesterday was our first day of operations in the new space and we had not received our order yet. The burger is more expensive than the beef one as the Vegan patty costs nearly double the price of our beef patties along with the Vegan yoghurt we use to make the beetroot tzatziki (R124 per kg VS R126 per 5kg regular full cream yoghurt). It also states on our menu that we prefer if you do not alter our dishes as you will not get the same result as you would if we served them the way they are meant to be served. The Risotto that you ended up having we had to leave the Burrata off (hence the price of the risotto) and leave out the parmesan and replace the butter with plant butter and replace the cream with coconut cream for you. The Celeriac Mille Feuille unfortunately contains butter and a bit of cream in the sauce which is why we could not offer you this dish. As you can imagine if someone that is not vegan who goes to a vegan restaurant to eat would probably not be able to get a steak and be accommodated in the way that non vegan restaurants have to constantly accommodate the Vegan patrons at extra costs to them, I hope that this helps explain how we really do try to make food that everyone can enjoy unfortunately it sometimes just isn't possible, and I apologize for this.

Thanks, the reason I came is because your staff on the phone told me there were several things they could modify to make vegan , so perhaps ask them not to say this and avoid the vegans coating you so much money and disappointing them in the process.
